As you walk in the main gate at Silver Springs Park, located just east of Ocala's city limits, you will find a swampy area that looks like this. And yes, there are gators that lurk in the murky green.
Hi Jacob...regarding my post for today on my blog with the colorful Rooster....
I left a reply but I wanted to make sure you saw it...
Oops, Jacob...you caught a major typo on my part!! I love Roosters...and I was one of those folks chasing after the rooster with my camera.
I meant to say that I was very much fascinated by his beauty!! This rooster had his work cut out for him protecting his hens and chicks from all of us crazies. LOL!

Those are cypress trees right? They look really cool growing in that green water.
Hmmm, I was thinking in terms of greeen spa! Maybe not, huh?
Really beautiful image, but I feel quite "uncomfortable" in this environment and this is a first in your descriptions of Ocala and surrounding area.
That is so cool!
LL
The colour is simply surreal
Wonderful image with beautiful green here
Alligators? Uh, no thank you. Fascinating though, since I've never seen a swamp in person.
Thanks, all. Vogon Poet - no problem. You're on a walkway above the swamp and the gators. Don't fall in, though!

PS...I corrected my error!!
Hope in Knoxville
Beautiful but also dangerous! Great capture!
The algae turns the water green unless its St Pat's in Chicago
Yikes! You won't catch me around there w/ gators then!
Seems my comment didn't go through earlier on. The first thing I thought of was a "green spa"! Maybe not, huh? ;-)
Pea-green soup!
I never believed
that could be so fascinating!
The color of water, submerged logs ...
Precious image!
thanks!
Our swamps are not quite so green over here. More of an icky brown color. But we've also got the gators!
Antjas - I don't think you'd want to drink this pea-green soup!
CQ - Green spa? Not!
Halcyon - I've seen your swamps. Actually, most of ours are brown, too. I'm not sure why this one is so green...
Wow, what a creepy place! Great photo.
Great shot. So different to my environment.
Yay! gators? Though it looks like fresh green. I can see why you were asking about the river I've posted before 'coz you have gators on your swamps.
Well, as long as the green gate keepers remain in that soup - I might want to take my morning swim elsewhere...
Has anyone else mentioned that the swamp resembles green pea soup? That is the Florida we all need to protect!
Wonderful shot! I'm a nature lover and this kind of habitat is among my favourites.
Dangerous yet beautiful :)
It's only dangerous if you fall in, Ben...heh, heh.
