After all of those lovely cheerful pictures of blue pools and sunny days, finally a photo that is restful!

I love to go to the local B&N here whenever I get the chance but they don't have a cozy area as this one.

My daughter call is "the library."

«Louis» would be as content here as the cat is content in yesterday's post. «Louis» is a real bookworm.

Barnes and Noble has a good formula going with their store designs. Very comfortable reading area. I expect it does promote sales.

It looks just like the Barnes & Noble in EAGAN, except the green striped chairs in our store are where the brown chairs are and the brown chairs are where the green striped chairs are! Comprends?!
(And of course, I've never seen Francine in OUR store!)

Jacob, I think Wentworth Park may be the last dog track in Sydney. There has been talk of relocating the track to an outer suburb because the land so close to the city is so valuable to developers.

Krise and I were at ours just the other night. She in the baby section, and I in the photography section.

I'll be sitting there the whole day! Hmmm… on second thought, maybe lying down too — those armchairs look really comfy.

When I saw this on the portal, I thought "This looks like our local B&N, and had a laugh when I opened it: it is indeed one of their stores. They must have gotten the armchairs en masse. I have noticed that the chain bookstores are becoming the modern equivalent of the neighborhood library. The people her don't seem to mind your photographing them.

I love Barnes and Noble. I have spent many hours in the one near where I used to work. Ya have to drag me out.
Neat shot. MB

BTW: A tulip barn is just that--a barn with tulips on it. MB

A very pleasnt picture of a cosy place. Unthinkable here, if not in rare bookshops in major cities.

I am always happy when I find a chair in B & N. I dozed off there once, book in hand.

@ Bibi - Be careful dozing off at B&N, 'cause there might be some idiot like me sneaking through the bookstacks with a camera!

Lowell said...

@ Kate and all - The area Barnes & Noble stores are establishing more of these reading areas throughout their stores...even in the "deli" area there are places to sit and read, work on computers, etc.

Ah, Kate, this good folks had no idea I was taking their photo!

Jacob: regarding your comment on my blog: I think the cross is actually a power pole or something but I thought it looked cool as a cross. ha!!

I think if you enlarge it you can see the lines. Ha again! MB

Bookstores are one of my two favorite stores--the other being quilt shops.

I think this is the third bookstore post I have seen today! Those chairs look mighty comfy.

I would spend the day in there.

Great shot! Here in Boston all the chairs in bookstores and libraries are covered with plastic. Fabric would simply get too dirty. Says something about life in Florida that the chairs are covered in fabric.

Nice photo, very intellectual atmosphere:)

From a commercial perspective, this signals generosity as well as self-confidence. They must be doing something right.

Nice shot. When I go there, I always buy something, even if just a mocha.

Looks mighty posh to me. ;-) How come the gym is empty but the chairs are full? Kick those couch potatoes out! I want a seat.

Ah, the sweet delight of reading at Barnes and Nobles! That's right about where we have our poetry readings.
