We don't have a lot of mannequins around here (they manage to sell clothing without them), but my first thought even before ready your question was, "Let me outta here, I want to run away" - so, yeah. They are ugly!
Yep. Automaton soul-stealers. We could probably all get together and come up with a good sci-fi thriller with these guys at the core. So the question is, how did these lifeless scary-looking mannequins inspire all this reaction? We didn't ignore them (but then, neither do they make me want their clothing).
It's funny you said "like zombies" as it reminded me of a science fiction movie or something. But, hey, I'm getting to be an old fart, so maybe it's me.
Well remember when the mannequins were headless? Maybe this is an improvement or you could take your lipstick and eye liner to the store after dark and improve on their expressions. Maybe---just a suggestion. MB
:) I think the light contributes to the zombie like air. I was about to suggest they could be featured in a sci-fi movie script but tapirgal beat me to it.
Jacob, Jacob, Jacob, the days of Jane Russell and Grace Kelly are over, I'm afraid. Now it's all about skin and bones and shock value! And don't let Safe Leif fool you...If his wife didn't dress him, he'd still be wearing HIS overalls from 1995!
@ Daryl - No...I like ethnically diverse and wish for more of it...these things, though, are just plain ugly...and it gets worse; in other parts of the store they have no heads at all! Like Livorno, as noted by VP...
OH NO! It's not just you, they ARE UGLIER than EVER, not to mention the clothes! Jeez!
The houses at the lake are built mainly up the gigantic hills around the lake (it's like a bowl shaped lake w/ high banks) & a lot of people have steps & docks coming down from the houses, there isn't a lot of houses actually built down by the water because of flooding. They also have annual boat racing at Wappapello Lake every summer where people come from all over the US, Canada, Mexico, & Europe - It's a big deal competition.
I had to SMILE.... Well, over here they have "cut off the head "on many of them..... I will take another look and see if I find a "healthy and good looking"model.... to show you. It might be hard to find!

Whoa. That's scary.
They look like there up to no good. :)
Come on, Jacob! Get groovy - get cool! Your denim big overalls are out of fashion - well, they were "out" already in 1995.
I don't think it is just you ... you're spot on with your question!! Ugh!
But we're probably showing our age -:)
Maybe some multi-racial models posed for the artists. :)
Yikes! I scrolled down to find the night of the living dead instead of a cheery warm Florida photo!
They ugly, and they clothes ugly too. Paisley???!!!
Three Rivers Daily Photo
@ afv - That's very possible...but my point is that they are so stark and bloodless...almost like zombies!
les robots ont pris le pouvoir ;o) tres réaliste et cela donne des beaux portraits (c'est bien pour s'entrainer)
The consensus, which «Louis» joins, is that it isn't just you, Jacob...

The first word that came to mind was SCARY, and you know, the longer you stare the creepier they look.

Hi Jacob !! I agree with Bfarr they look scary !!
This is kind of "in your face" modeling. They look like they are dressed for a stare-down.

Our went so ugly that someone beheaded them all...
Creepy...I guess it's so you'll concentrate on the clothes, it you aren't scared off.
Elles ont l'air très sérieux ! J'aime bien les vêtements présentés.
weird, almost spook!

I agree, they are scary-looking. Give me chills!

These are great! What a cool photo! It's the new tough look, the ne're do well look. You captured it perfectly! :-D
I don't really like that Bad-to-the-bone attitude myself. :-(
I prefer a little kindness and sympathy.
They look militant!
They don't look happy....but who would be wearing those clothes.
Terrible!
:-)
Uglier? I think perhaps more ethnically diverse ...

@ Allison - Thanks! That's kinda what I figured! I haven't even seen overalls in probably 40-50 years...been away from Minneesota toooo long!
LOL! Very funny, Jacob! :-)
Robots. Like many people.

I sense a post-subjective symbiosis of contemporary paradigms with a touch of urban what-not. Basically meaning I share your alienation.
@ Per Stromsjo - Heh. Heh! What college do you profess at? Or maybe you're a politician! If not, you should be, with that gift of gab!
Yep! Creepy!

I'm a little afraid of that one in the middle!
Hideous!! I'm still scared of the ones at Old Navy.
