Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist

This is rather old church, located in downtown Ocala. It is one of many "missionary" Baptist churches in central Florida.

First I need to say that I like that cross sign and the colors in the window.
Without the sign the church looks more a house, but I think it would be the right feeling, a place to pray.
Have a nice day dear friends,
Léia

Apparently you all need missionaries in Ocala.
When I was a kid I wanted to be a Missionary because in the pictures I saw they were riding horses. The big draw was the horses---sacrilegious I know.

BTW: I am NOT putting up Christmas stuff now--that has been hanging on that sign for several years now. ??? MB

MB churches are usually black congregations. I don't know why they call them that.

This looks like a nice un-assuming little house of worship.

Baptist Churches are like mushrooms, they pop up everywhere

I wonder if the Baptist are the dominant denomination in the South and Southeast? Any clue, Jacob?

I tried to google the difference between Baptist and Missionary Baptist and it made my eyes cross. Anyway, interesting shot.

Don't forget I live in Mississippi. We have plenty of MB churches around here. :)

I wouldn't know the difference and if there wasn't a sign I wouldn't even have noticed this was a church.

Lots of pagans around there!

We have a Missionary church here in East Gwillimbury but not Missionary Baptist. Hmm. I wonder what the difference is.

I find it interesting that this church is all one floor and there is no steeple. Is that common for Missionary Baptist churches?
