Until I learned about your blog this is pretty much what I thought Florida was all about (except for a few places like Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Cape Canaveral of course). In many ways I hate seeing the new take over the old but that is happening big time in the Toronto area too.
I wonder what the story is with that place. I can read a realtor's description now: "Cozy fixer upper in a pastoral setting with Florida friendly vegetation".
I wonder how long it's been sitting empty. Between 1992 and 2002, I worked consulting on long term projects and I would be away from my home weeks at a time. Even though my house was a condo with common walls on both sides, being empty so much took a toll on it too. When I'd come home for a few days, I'd find things that needed to be fixed. It was a good thing my parents were around at the time so they could spend time there during the week letting in the various repairmen.
Was it a ranch there in Fl? Wonder why they hit the road?! Wonder how they could afford to hit the road... I always think about that when I see an abandoned place! =)

I always wonder about the story of these places...this looks built low to the ground but doesn't look all that old to me....not like some anyway.
It does not look old, may be the bad economy.
This is sort of a sad scene. What happened, it looks like a nice enough piece of property. Looks like no one has been there for quite some time.
Oh, and I should have known there were hitching posts downtown!

Is this a farm? An outbuilding on a horse farm? Just a house? I'm confused... again.
