Subway in Walmart

Walmart intends to be all things to all people. Just about every "need" one could have is anticipated in this Walmart store. And if you're hungry, grab a sub and Subway. You can also get your hair cut, your eyes examined and your photo taken. In this way Walmart puts a lot of small, local business establishments out of business. It's hard to compete with a behemoth like Walmart that has the wherewithal to undercut just about any other store's prices.

You can get a cheap oil change for your car at my WalMart. They charge little, but still make money. While waiting for the work, people go inside and shop.

Our old one has a Subway too. We're getting a new Super Walmart soon. Who know what will be inside.

Thank goodness Stanwood voted it out of town. MB

les grandes chaines tuent souvent le petit commerce, et surtout le commerce des centres villes et c'est bien triste, car cela fait disparaitre une partie de la vie des centres villes

Fundamentally only because people accept it.

Subway is sprawling in France at the moment and I'm angry at the French who accept this. Sorry but a baguette sandwich is 10, nay 100 times better than a Subway sandwich, hardly any more expensive but still people flock to Subway.

And then, in 10 years time, the same idiots will lament about bakeries going out of business or not serving those good ole' sandwiches anymore.

That was this month's rant. :-)

Walmart is definitely the place you love to hate. But I shop there sometimes; money is money.

I agree with Ciel. Brattleboro also declined the opportunity to welcome one in our midst.

Those places drag controversy where ever they travel.

Now this reminds me of some e-mails with photos attached I got from an american friend, under the title: 'Walmartians - weirdest people ever'. :-)

Suppliers who want to sell their goods in Wal Mart stores must also meet stringent cost requirements. Wal Mart dictates to suppliers what they must charge in order for their items to be stocked on their shelves. This practice has driven alot of formerly US-made goods to China and other countries where labor and raw materials are cheaper. Another way Wal Mart has negatively affected our economy. :(
