Oh oh---yes there are carrots of all colors. Orange of course but there are pink, purple white and red. Oh blue too. Rainbow carrots. Some of the farmers out in the Skagit valley grow carrots for seed. But they are the regular ones. MB
We have carrot farms on the Holland Marsh - just orange ones grow there, though. But there truly are colourful carrots for those who want to send big bucks to ensure they get their daily dose of vitamin A in technicolor.
Supposedly, carrots were originally purple, but a lot of people were put off by the color, so a few hundred years ago farmers crossbred various strains until they ended up with orange.

I guess you need a place to grow carrots. But I'll stick to the orange variety! :)

And it says it's organic... I'd rather think of a purple carrot as some dread chemical experiment!
God bless you!

Lol, but then you probably have purple vitamins!
I've seen Jamie Oliver cooking with purple carrots on TV - they probably cost $$. I think I'll check out the purple carrot farm website.
LOL! I think I'd wonder about *what* organic substance turned those carrots purple!
I know there are purple potatoes, but haven't seen a purple carrot.
"I've never seen a purple cow...."
I've seen purple carrots at our Farmers Market before. Never tasted though.
Would you eat one?
I'll agree with you on this one.
... a special little 'gift' for you on my Blog today, Lowell. Happy summer.
Now that I know there are purple carrots, I feel that I should try one. Maybe it tastes like chicken.
LOL! You took the words out of my keyboard, Lowell! :-)
Purple carrots? I've never seen them either.
Purple tomatoes, maybe. But that's another story and one we really don't want to get into tonight. Have a great weekend!
I have never seen purple carrots. Neat photo!
:) Nice find and capture!
