Those shoes look painful and dangerous, but wait. They are about the same, and for the same reasons, as foot binding in traditional China. Women with these shoes are not going be able to walk away, at least not far. And they do add an interesting wiggle in their walk, if they don't fall down.

It hurts just to look at shoes like that. But the pretty models/mannequins do provide some salve.

Those mannequins look very life like. I'm sure I would fall off of those shoes and break something.
