Silver Springs Nature Theme Park is in transition
This is one of the boats that was used to take patrons on the Lost River Voyage. In my opinion it was one of the best rides at the park but was discontinued in 2011, supposedly because the owners were having financial problems. Silver Springs Nature Theme Park also shut down the Fort King River Cruise. Unfortunately, the park is a mere shell of its former self. I have heard that the State of Florida is taking it over and will make it part of the adjacent Silver River State Park.
It will never be the same!
A short distance behind this boat is a set that was used in the filming of the popular TV show, Sea Hunt, starring Lloyd Bridges. Sea Hunt had a run from 1958 to 1961. Lloyd Bridges played a scuba diver. Many of the episodes were filmed here at Silver Springs Park as well as at other central Florida locations.

I loved Sea Hunt! I had totally forgotten it until your post.
Looks so pretty! Captured beautifully
belle (et fraiche) photo, qui donne envie de faire une escapade avec ce bateau
It's a bit sad...
Best regards from Paris,
Pierre
I can't remember this TV show, but this place is really beautiful and your pictures is fantastic. The reflections are very clear, amazing capture!

Shame that the park has hit hard times, this looks like a fantastic ride to embark on. Great looking boat!
That is really a shame. I love the look of the water here and having been on many "swamp tours" I know how fun and informative they can be. Hope they will manage to save some of the fun in this park!
What got me started on following blogs was to see lovely photography like this!
I didn't know that about Sea Hunt. I guess I assumed it was filmed near LA. Too bad about the boat rides!
It all looks a little sad and lonely. What a shame. I wonder what will happen when the State Park takes over. I have seen many State Parks and some are quite nice while others...not so much.
Too bad the theme park was losing money. I wonder why! Maybe it's a very good thing the State of Florida is taking it over.
The first time I saw Silver Springs was in 1974. It has the clearest water. Too bad it had to close.
Looks nice and peaceful.
Aww, that's sad. I hope the state manages to keep it the way you all like it.
What a setting! Great reflections too. Would love to take a tour the old fashioned way.
