One of Dr. Duke's "gators"
Dr. James Duke is a highly-regarded orthopedic surgeon located here in Ocala. He's a graduate of the University of Florida, a school which has as its symbol an alligator. People who attend the University of Florida in Gainesville are known as "Gators."
Many of these people are rabid fans. Fanatics.
Ocala is full of U of F alumni. They can also be fanatics.
Dr. Duke has worked with the athletic department at the University of Florida for a number of years so he is doubly involved in the school's efforts to offer a quality college education. He is an avid fan. His office is filled with U of F memorabilia. This gator coiled up on the coffee table in his waiting room is one piece of that memorabilia.

That's a marvelous item for your table... unless you have friends with fears of gators.
Hey, what a great way to discourage people from lifting a trinket or so from the table now and then!! Love your capture for the day and thanks as always for the smile and the giggle! Have a wonderful new week!
I'll setting for a regular nut dish, thanks.
Nothing wrong with pride in one's alma mater. Lots of gators in southwest Florida, too, but so many people are retirees from the Midwest or Canada that there are as many Buckeyes as gators.
Interesting old gator----so's the dish on the table. Bwahahaha!! MB
I'd have to wait elsewhere...
Uhhhh. Not sure I'd find that terribly welcoming, though now that I think of it I seem to remember that the 'gator was the mascot of my college, too.
My first question is, what are you doing in an orthopedic surgeon's office? Hope all is ok!
If this guy was good enough for the Gators athletes, then I think he's good enough for you! It's funny how crazy people are for their college sports teams. But I suppose there are worse things.
Glad you're back!!!
Fierce looking!
Obviously he had a good experience there, and truly is loyal!
de quoi faire des cauchemars si tu te leves dans la nuit
Dr. Duke? Forgetaboutit!
Show me the Daisy Dukes!
Catherine Bach looked good in them.
But I digress.
Alligators have their place and that place is not on the coffee table. I think I'd have to move him to a more appropriate locale.
I think that would creep me out a bit!
OH dear! I hope you weren't in that office for anything serious!
Looks frightfully amazing!!
My first connection between an orthopedic surgeon and a gator was of another kind...
