Temple B'nai Darom and a lesson from yesterday

[Note:  First of all, a comment about yesterday's post with the beer truck driving up to the first tee.  It didn't happen.  The photo is a composite (which was fairly well done I think).  The people on the tee was one photo but the beer truck was another photo and in that photo it was driving down the highway.  I was able to blend them into one picture.

A picture might be worth a thousand words, as the old saw goes, but sometimes it's just plain phony.  Furthermore, we often see what our brain wants to see even if what we are seeing makes no sense.  That's why "eyewitness" testimony in a court room is often worthless.

And the final lesson is that I'm kinda sneaky and if I can pull off a prank, I'm likely to do it!]

B'nai Darom (which means "Sons of the South") is a Jewish temple located on the east side of Ocala. It is a small congregation and while they follow the Reform liturgy, the temple is unaffiliated. Back in 2009, we published a post on this temple and are doing so again because it was recently in the news following several acts of vandalism.

The temple also owns one of the oldest Jewish cemeteries in the state and that was also vandalized. One wonders when or if this kind of anti-Semitic behavior will ever stop.

Our previous post which has additional information, is here.

I like the simplicity of this place.

Creative prank, Lowell!

The vandalism is shameful! There were some similar incidents just south of here before Christmas where 3 predominantly African American churches were vandalized by painting KKK tags on their buildings.

These types of vandalism always seem to bring out even more people to help with the clean-up. If only we could rid ourselves of the fools that do these awful things in the first place.

Why do cretins always choose to be vandals?

Nice capture and story here.
Ah Lowell, you fooled me with yesterday's photo, but I must admit, it's well done !

You are a sneaky devil! I did wonder why the truck was on the golf course but, having worked a few golf tournaments, I do know how much booze gets consumed at those events. (At least there was quite a lot for the group I worked for.)
What a shame about the synagogue. One would think we could move away from these age old prejudices but no, in some ways they seem to be getting worse. History shows that nothing good comes from it but we continue to ignore history.

I'm a bit of a big kid when it comes to snow, haha, and you're welcome! I'm trying to keep up more with everyone's blogs. - Tasha

I will never understand vandalism. What a shame.
Your photoshop work on yesterday's post was indeed very good. I like to try things like that and from time to time will post it but if you see the word 'photoshop' in the labels, that is a clue that I will always give.

It makes me so very sad to think someone would stoop to vandalizing! I can't ever understand that crime at all -- what motivates such lowlifes?

Anyway it is a lovely Temple -- elegant in its simplicity.

You're such a trickster, Lowell! I still like the picture even if it was "doctored".
I feel bad when any house of worship gets vandalized. Freedom of religion is a tenant of the US.

No prank here. I had my doubts yesterday, phew!

Oh, you are a sneaky one!!

Vandalism is a mystery to me. And why anti-Semitic behavior? CRAZY! I think a lot of people are insecure about who they themselves are so it makes them feel "good" to try to unsettle others.
