The Casements, located along the Halifax River (Intercoastal Waterway) was constructed in the early 1900s for a clergyman and his wife. It was purchased by John D. Rockefeller in 1918 and he used the 9,000 square foot home as his winter residence until he died at the age of 97.
After his death, the property was used for a variety of purposes, including a school. Then it was left to deteriorate. Eventually, it was named a "Historic Property" and was purchased by the City of Ormond Beach, which proceeded to restore the place to its original grandeur.
Currently, The Casements serves as the Cultural Center for the City of Ormond Beach.

It's beautiful and I am happy that it will be taken care of and open to the public.
The settings for my moon picture, which wasn't as sharp as I had hoped for,f5.9 at 1/500 ISO 180 with 360mm on a tripod.

It looks like it was a mighty grand residence for a clergyman, especially if it was enough to catch the eye of a Rockefeller. How nice that it was saved and restored.
Very very cool, Lowell. I visited the Rockefeller estate near the Hudson River two years ago and it was absolutely fascinating.

We featured a sign and a public figure, today, too! John D. Rockefeller IV served WV faithfully from 1977- 2015. At first we were skeptical of an "outsider", but he proved his commitment and loyalty to the state.
