The Villages Regional Hospital
The Villages Regional Hospital is a very busy place and is almost always involved in renovation and construction. With thousands of people moving to The Villages every month, most of them being of an "advanced" age, you can imagine that The Villages and surrounding areas provide a wide array of medical opportunities and facilities.
What was, as few as ten years ago, a relatively small community of homes with a nice little downtown has now become a vast, sprawling cacophony of houses, stores, shopping malls, sporting venues, and three "downtowns" covering many miles and hundreds and hundreds of acres. Traffic is becoming a real problem and it's increasingly difficult to avoid getting run over by the gadzillion golf carts zooming through the streets

AND they call it progress.
Very nice friendly architecture. First view we can think about a hotel. It's good to have some "comfort" when you feel sick.
Wishing you a nice week,
Leia
Quite strange, but architecturally speaking is a very interesting case.
It looks more like a condo complex than a hospital, Lowell!
It's all a bloor to me. ;-)))
It sounds like The Villages is a very popular place. The hospital has a bit of a look of Tuscany look to it.
It looks more like a condo to me, too!! I'm happy to stay in Oregon!!
Great captures as always though!! Hope your week is off to a great start!! Enjoy!!
Oh well, that's the problem with development, isn't it? Hope they don't do it to Montana... :-)
That looks like a major facility. Hope you were just passing by when you took these shots.
I do like the architectural style!
Bonne journée !
Interesting architecture, Lowell. And I love that beautiful blue sky in your photos! :)
I didn't realize there were so many people moving to The Villages, but I guess you can't keep a good thing a secret for long! My daughter moved to the Lake Nona area of southeast Orlando two years ago which is where they are developing the new Medical City health and life sciences park. Every time I go down there, I can't believe how much new growth there is.
I'm with Birdman. We're facing similar issues around here though it's a slow march here. I've seen the "more is better" mentality in California. Not my approach to finding a good quality of life.
So far I have not been up to The Villages, and, to be frank, it isn't very high on my list. Nice to see you back.
It does look like a really nice, modern hospital. But I understand your feelings about all the "new" stuff. It can be nice when a place grows, but not at breakneck speed. Be careful out there!
Estupendas imágenes..te mando un saludo desde Murcia...y feliz septiembre....
Just like a mini city!
I like very much that first photo, Lowell !
Sad to see sprawl but maybe it was needed. Probably so.
Hello and how are you all!
MB
It's great to have a hospital nearby when there's such a high possibility of golf cart accidents!
I imagine that the so-called progress is creating some consternation among the original residents. Are you one of them; if so, how do you feel about the growth and attendant problems?
Especially like the top shot. I think someone thought it was a hotel...so did I.
