These days a shopping mall that wants to stay in business must attract customers of all ages. One way to do that is to provide a bit of excitement for the younger set in hopes they'll drag their parents along, the presumption being that their parents will spend a wad of money.
Our Paddock Mall operates on this principle. I think it works sometimes.

yes, they are very popular marketing techniques! good effect on your photo!
With the right customers this would be a fun place to be but your photo illustrates quite well why i avoid malls!
It's so cheerful:)
Have a great week ahead!
I would avoid malls too! I like what you've done with the shot.
When I was a kid there were always rides at the grocery store - usually a horse that only moved a bit but was still thrilling to ride. I guess it was the same principle at work!
Nice colors! One of the malls here that everyone thought was dead has recently been undergoing some radical renovations turning it into what promises to be a very nice place. Time will tell if it works or not.
Your photo turns up the volume. But I admit I'd probably put in earplugs and go to that Cold Stone Creamery.
Messing with a photo is half the fun.
you make a commics
Malls need all the help they get. There are empty stores in my local mall.
The picture makes it look like a fun place .... (Pictures can be deceiving). One of the Malls in our hometown (the Oregon one) took out the center playground to howls from lots of young parents. (It rains a lot in Oregon). The mall management said people were just using it as a park and not buying anything and those weren't the people they wanted to attract. Brilliant PR, doncha think?
I think you may be right. I'm of the opinion that young parents today buy their children waaay too much.. lack of appreciation ensues :)
Yes catch them young!
I love the look you gave this photo!
I see you have one of those dreaded Coldstone ice cream places. I say dreaded because they are what made the dreaded governor of our fair state a rich man. Of course those riches came at the expense of the little guy as usual.
You summarized quite well the idea!
I'd be bored stiff...
Now that you mention it, I remember seeing quite a few children's play areas in the malls I visited in the States. We only have one indoor mall here in Coventry and it is quite small...so no play area. Like the jazzy look of your photo!
Lots of color!
