Sports Authority - Bankrupt!

Sports Authority, a sporting goods chain, has been around for a number of years. For a variety of reasons, however, the company found it could no longer compete as currently structured and as a result it has declared bankruptcy.

The Ocala store has been running a bankruptcy sale for several weeks and by the time we got there, all the golf merchandise was gone and much of the rest of the store's goods had been sold.

I find this rather sad, and although we didn't shop their very often (prices too high), it provided another option for people in this part of central Florida.

I love the effects in your first photo, Lowell! It is always sad to see stores close...it is kind of like the end of an era. Here in Montreal many stores are closing as well, and the store owners are saying it is mostly because many people are shopping online now as opposed to going to the store.

Sorry for all the employees that lost their job. and I'm sure you can find a good deal for your golf club collection in another store.

Unfortunately it happens.

Another sad story. I feel bad for the workers because jobs are hard to come by. That looks like a huge store. Good that you documented it because eventually people will forget. Always a good reminder to know what happened in the community.

I wonder if the Sports Authority stores here are closing too? I'll have to check into this, Lowell!

Another one bites the dust. But don't worry. The Donald will bring it all back again, right? Everyone will be working...oh yeah, except the women. We'll keep 'em barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen. And there will be a few unemployed judges. But it'll all be great. Trust him.

I dislike to see any business go bankrupt; it just is not good for the economy.

Sad .... Maybe it will be replaced by computer gaming stores!

Here it was Sport Chalet. I wonder if it's the same company.

Nice effect on your first photo, Lowell !

I like the crackled effect, too. Many stores, so it seems, are going the way of most bookstores; sad.

It's funny, I just noticed the same thing here two days ago. All the windows were plastered with going out of business signs.

The SA store here went out several years ago. Too bad.

The one here went out of business months ago. It's a shame.
