Yes, those are real race cars up there. Located on Silver Springs Boulevard (Hwy 40) about a mile east of I-75, this Sunoco service station is a paean to auto racing. Notice the various NASCAR symbols.
I would guess that while there may be a wide variety of people filling up at this joint..... there is a draw to a very narrow group of people..... those thst DO like Jeff Gordon..... and those that don't.
Oh and regarding my post from earlier today...... I thought so too..... Who knew ???
WEll as my Aunt Lena use to say, "Well that just beats all!" I'm amazed that those are real. Now you know I'm a heartbeat away from the Talladega Speedway near Bham and I think there are some folks that would kill for that! V

I imagine that people would have this niggling fear at the back of their mind of having nascar cars falling on their heads. Hehe
I've seen a photo at Davao Daily of a motorcycle with the rider on top of an awning.

Funny place to make a pit stop!
What a cool colorful place. Gentlemen start your engines! Just don't go more than about ten feet. :-)
Rev it up man. You get the checkered flag for this picture. Also thanks so much for all your kind words, it really helps.
This is great, for a moment I saw this as some kind of parabolic turn inside a racetrack! They must love their trade to set up something like this.
Ah this is GRRREAT!!! Fun and makes for a cool photo! I would stop there just for the sheer fun of it!
Nice roof with cars on it:)
Ugh. Jacob, didn't you mean a pee on to racing? LOL! - I live between Talladega and Barber Motorsports. NOT a big racing fan.
Woudn't my G-boys love that. They and their father are Nascar fans. Great advertising. MB
I've never been much for racing, but this gets a "Wow!" even from me!
Really eye-catching!
@ Nikki & Hilda - I'm not a racing fan, either. But you gotta admit this is an eye-catching scene, even if a bit gaudy!
Nice find. That is really cool.
Looks like a fancy life-size Carrera slot car track. The view from above must be fantastic. Nice find!
I wondered where all the extra money that we pay when we fill up went to. Now we know. Great shot!

My grandson would think this is very cool!
It was quite an original idea to put the racing cars up there, very interesting!
God bless you!

Very strange and interesting! Must be a LARGE roof to make the cars look like toys. Fun capture.
We have out of town compay, can't be online much.
Good advertising, eh? That roof must be made of something very sturdy,
That's a cool photo!! I worked at the Sunoco offices in Tulsa during high school and a little during college.
