This is an old horse barn, located just off one of Ocala's busiest thoroughfares. The horses are gone as are the windows and the building is rotting slowly away. At one time, this property was no doubt part of a very large horse farm but it must have gotten in the way of "progress"!

I would love to see this from the inside...I wonder how many horses it held. Bet it could tell a few stories.
Ah Jacob, you joined! Thank you so much! That's an elaborate barn, did it have a/c, too? Heheheee j/j =)
I'm so glad you posted this & I know old barns isn't everyone's 'thing', so don't feel obligated to post every week - I'm just excited to see so many join the 1st time! This is great!
Thanks again!!!
Barns are good...do big workshops qualify. Ours is, um, very rustic.
Progress eh? that mean bas*#d took our first farm. It sat empty for 2 yrs while vandals trashed it and finally was torn down. I'd better stop now. LOL MB
always sad to see such lovely old buildings going to waste.
une belle ferme pour chevaux
I have seen houses here in worse condition...
It's a beautiful barn, and I like a lot this theme! :)
I like the sequence of those windows, it's very nice!

Did the horses strike for better conditions? It doesn't look too bad. The inside must be pretty dilapidated, however.
I rode in Ocala one winter while I was still showing in the Pony Hunter Circuit (it seems like such a long time ago!) but this photo really brings back memories of the area. Beautifully captured. Beautiful photo in your header as well.
Too bad there is not another use for the barn if it is not a horse farm anymore.
I like old barns, but haven't seen many of them around here. Maybe I'll have to venture out.
I would have never guessed this is old, Jacob...
Doesn't look all that old to me either, although it does remind me a bit of a rundown motel. Maybe it could be used for Ocala horses who find themselves down on their luck.
Oh dear! So sad to see it rotting away but, as you say, that's "progress."
I love old barns of any kind .. did you and Lois Ann get any shots of the interior?
It looks so sad and lonely now, but I'll bet it used to be quite a showplace.
Decay through progress. Go figure.
I mean this in the best possible way--your photo would make a fantastic jigsaw puzzle!
