Lowell, thank you for your comments on my post for today. The depopulation of the northern Great Plains is a long standing issue. I have a colleague who spent a decade in North Dakota putting together research and conferences on the cause and answer to this problem. He replaced me when I retired from our local university.
I appreciate your comments about the election, and the nature of large corporations. Couldn't agree with you more. My father fought all through WW II against Fascism, and here we are facing that same threat. Let's go help get out the vote and see if we can make some difference.
These things always creep me out a little bit. When I was in Glasgow years ago, someone told me there were cameras all over the downtown area and because of it, crime had been cut by something like 99%. Since I was alone, it did make me feel safer. Having said that, it feels like privacy is slowly becoming an illusion, and that's sad.
Thanks for posting this Lowell. I've heard about these things but never seen one. I was driving down the interstate outside Richmond not long ago when a small object flew overhead. A drone of some sort keeping track of traffic? May have been. We are entering a new era. It's an uncomfortable place. But, on the other hand, it may help to get the crazies off the road. My loved ones don't need to meet them somewhere and I would rather they see one of these.
There are many of these around Montreal and I think it is a good thing, as (hopefully) it will help to keep the crime rate lower. Since this is a newer thing I am not sure as to how well it will work, if at all. Great photo, Lowell.

Why do these cameras always take lousy photos of a culprit's face when a crime is being committed?
No escape thesedays, cameras EVERYWHERE ;-)
I guess the police cannot be everywhere at all times so this has become the alternative. :)

There is no place to hide! Although there is much that I enjoy about all the new technology, I still long for a little more privacy.
It's amazing how many of these are around. Not as many as in England but, they are growing fast.
There are a ton of "red light" cameras around Toronto, but they don't seem to stop people from actually running lights! :)
Sometimes it's nice to have them but it is sad that we need them.
Big Brother is EVERYWHERE, also here...
that is a big video recorder. and it seems to be pointed at the roof?
When something bad happens it is good to have had a camera around but there is something that bothers me about the whole thing.
They are everywhere here now.

Agree with the Big Brother and invasion of privacy comments, but I still think we need these...used wisely. Too bad, though.
