We arrived at 8:30 AM. I thought the polls opened at 9:00 AM. I was surprised at how few people were standing in line. At 8:50 AM, I asked someone when the polls opened. They said "Ten o'clock." So, we waited. But it all turned out OK, because if we had come later, we would have had a hard time finding a place to park and we would have been way at the end of that line which you see in the 4th photograph!

You got some fantastic candid shots!!! I love them. Early voting is so much easier here....I waited at home for the library to open at 10:00...not realizing that the voting area had opened at 7:00...walked right in and voted....now just keeping my fingers crossed ;)
That dude in the first shot looks really eager to get the sign! Maybe he's a participant in the Signs, Signs meme? ;)

I love the people shots! Even with the long lines, I miss going to the polls. In Washington, we only have mail-in voting. It's simpler, I suppose, but it's not the same as walking into the voting booth.

such a lone line. I dont understand why they dont put in more machines, but I'm sure its political. I early voted here, no lines. I dont think my choices will win in Texas, but thats ok I think he will win.
So, in Florida they let people vote who can't even get the starting hours right? I voted earlier this week. Ridiculous ballot with all of those ballot questions and voting on positions no one ever heard of. I only had a 30 minute wait and considered myself lucky. I got the last parking space in the lot, but I did have the right starting time.
Wow, that is an impressive turn out! I voted two weeks ago. I'm one of those early ballot people so I no longer have to wait in line.

Well everyone looks happy. I guess they think they voted for the winner. I used to like to go to a polling place to vote and we never had any lines but now I just send in my ballot. I wonder why there were never any lines.

I guess here in Washington state we're less sociable with our mail-in voting. There wasn't even a line at the post office when I dumped mine in the mail.

Hear that your governor closed early voting early. Am I being paranoid by saying that I think it's a tad suspicious? Glad to see long lines. Although I have some problems with the electoral college system, I'm happy to see people exercising their right to vote. PS. I replied to your comment on my blog today.

I'm Canadian and I'll be glad when it's all over. Americans have longest campaign season in the world. It starts on the first day of the convention and ends today.
I voted through absentee ballot! I hope my candidate wins....
YAY! I'm glad you voted, Lowell. I heard on the news that voting may be a problem in Florida again this year. I thought the U.S. was a democracy. Just saying. ;)
Lines at the voting place? One of the advantages of living on the Prairie is that we just walk in, cast our ballot, and walk out. Voting is important, and I hope everyone gets out to the polls. It is the only way a democracy has a chance of working.
Now, that is quite long a line! Glad you went earlier.
