This photo has not been altered other than a bit of contrast added and some sharpening. I have no clue as to why the sky appears to be split apart. Perhaps someone out there in Blogger Land will know what caused that phenomenon.
I don't know, you should send it to the weather channel and ask them to explain it. Then tell us what they say. Upper level wind shear? What ever it is the picture is spectacular!

Neat photo. Those splits are caused by flying saucers.
Interesting phenomenon...looks like a gentle funnel cloud.
incredible sight
I always see messages in the sky so this one appears political to me :)
looks like a heavy dew on the grass. beautiful. i can't explain that parting in the sky but no man could have put that asunder.
Clouds can do pretty much what they feel like. Nuff said.
Wow, that is interesting. It is also a spectacular photo.

Fascinating, I like Andy's explanation.

this is very intriguing. I agree, upload it to the weather channel then report back.
It does look like a funnel cloud....very intriguing shot as are all the comments ;)
Beautiful shot. I can't improve on Andy's theory.
Andy's the man on this one! Such soft gentle colours.
As long as it isn't politics... Gorgeous shot!
No idea what caused it, but it's beautiful! :)

That's amazing. It makes you wonder.
I'm with Andy too. Alien invasion is obviously the most likely explanation. Beautiful photo!
