Walk and talk
All day ev'ry day
Is there a minute's peace
Are we to be inundated
With cute ring tones
Text messages
And jangly voices
Forever?
Perhaps we could pause
Hold a steady head
Listen for that
Sound that doesn't
Pierce our ears
Or melt our brains...the
Sound of silence!

It's a common sight in today's world. We in an era of super fast communication.
It's an addiction!
Amen! I especially dislike it when someone's phone goes off in a restaurant...just a pet peeve...my students get 25 points knocked off their grade if their phone goes off in class...one student lost 50 points in a five minute space of time last week....I wonder if I was as hard headed in my youth ;)
amen.
An all too familiar scene today I'm afraid, right down to the blur of her feet as she dashes along...
I see this everywhere! You'll have to catch one of the "drive and talk" people. There are plenty of them too.
I guess I don't have too much of importance to say because I don't even turn my cell phone on. But I see people like this person everywhere. There have been times when waiting in a check out line that I have turned to speak to someone but they were on the phone with someone else.
It's ridiculous how often I see this in Montreal....on the street, on the bus, in cars driving by. Great capture, Lowell.
it drives me crazy!
Rush hour and it becomes a hazzard zone
I love the sound of silence. I would not at all surprised to learn that being connected 24/7 actually makes people more stressed.
I have a cell phone but nobody calls, or texts. which is just fine with me!
Amen! And from my side of endlessly overheard conversations it certainly doesn't sound as if there's a heck of a lot being said that's worth listening to.

I admit I talk on the phone in my car, but at least I have a hands-free device. What a world we live in.
Well done. I like the blurring. Gotta go. Phone is ringing.
Hopefully she doesn't do it while she's driving.
:-)
I'm back home !
Best wishes for you and your wife my dear friend...
Best regards from Paris,
Pierre
I see so much of this here, too. People are just oblivious to all around them.
Oh don't get me started. Though I wouldn't make a poem of it...
Ain't it the truth!!MB
Instants like this give inspiration. So lovely girl. Hugs.

Modern times! This photo tells so much, Lowell.
Silence. What's that? There really are very few sounds quite as beautiful as a quiet hush. I like sense of motion you've captured here, Lowell!
In Toronto, they have said they will fine pedestrians who talk on te phone or text while crossing an intersection. I think it's a good idea, but not sure how they will enforce it really.
Beautifully captured and versed!
Hi, Jacob. Your little poem is choiced very well. And I remember Simon and Garfunkel... but I am not very found of cell phone!
Nice posting, both text and image!:)
