This beautiful live oak tree is located about three blocks from our home. XL, of course, means extra-large. I'm guessing that this area was once part of Tartan Farms which is now the fabulous Winding Oaks Farm.
Now that is some oak tree! Lovely homes. If the road had curbs, I might be fooled into thinking this was Southern California.
Dufner has yet to tee off....we are watching. (Loved your note about this chap.) Watch out for the talented pair of Stenson and Rose. Our family have left Orlando and are now in the Keys. Hope they like it there.
PS. Mr LOL is butting in and saying that 'curbs' should be 'kerbs' :).
That is a super beautiful tree. In California I'd worry that it was surrounded by lawns since the oaks there are drought tolerant and don't like wet feet. I don't know if the Florida variety are more water tolerant. Those lush lawns might not be what it wants.
What a beauty, but I'd hate to be under its shadow during a huge storm. Know from experience this spring that these behemoths can topple just like small trees.

I love those trees! Lots of beautiful trees in the Pacific Northwest, but no Live Oaks...we only see them in the South (and in Florida ;>)
