Ricky, the Inquisitive Raccoon
Meet Ricky the inquisitive raccoon who lives at the Ocala Golf Club.
Actually I don't know if his name was Ricky - I just made that up. For some reason he looks sort of like a "Ricky," and he was certainly inquisitive. I think he intended to beg for food; we did have some nice candy bars in our golf cart that the crows hadn't stolen. But he decided begging was beneath him and he knew he'd find all the food he needed in neighborhood garbage cans that night.
So he scampered across the fairway and into the woods. That was the last we saw of Ricky.

It seems rare to see them in daytime. I occasionally see them scampering around campus in the evening when I'm leaving. I must remember to have a camera ready.
I do love your Ricky!! What a delightful pic for the day and just the smile I needed!! Thanks, as always, Lowell!! Have a great weekend -- enjoying a little golf???
Raccoons on your golf course? My, very classy!
These guys can be brazen little buggers. The name Rascal Raccoon comes to mind.
We had a mama and two offspring who staged circus performances on our back porch nightly when the figs on our tree were ripe.
Cute little devil.
You make some interesting encounters Lowell...
That's much better than a sparrow...
Bandit on the loose! "What? Just crappy candy bars? Keep moving, guys."
Ricky looks friendly enough...
Ricky the rascal! They sure can get into trouble. Cute shot.
He's such a cute little scavenger.
He's quite a handsome guy! Not as much fur as ours - i guess he doesn't have to worry about keeping warm!
I remember coming across a whole family at the golf course one day. They climbed into our cart and started rummaging around, they weren't afraid when we came back brandishing our clubs either!
Very cute. Hope he got a few morsels that day. I was thinking more of the Beatles' song, Rocky Raccoon. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rocky_Raccoon
"Cute."
Great spotting and composition, Lowell!
Sorry I've not been commenting lately but a tendinitis (shoulder + elbow) is forcing me to stay away from the keyboard as much as possible - repeated movements of the arm is all I have to avoid...
