This photo shows the swapping or re-arranging of eggs.
I've seen this "re-arranging" of the eggs numerous times in our grocery stores. It usually involves people who look for cracked or broken eggs in a carton, and swap those out for good eggs from another carton; that's neither bad nor unexpected.
But then you have people who take more expensive eggs and swap them with eggs from a less expensive carton.
It must be an ongoing problem, as I've noticed that sometimes checkout clerks check the eggs presented to them to see if they are the right eggs for the carton.
Who sells their soul for $1.50?

Yes, I've seen the checkout clerks do that here as well!! I guess I'm just easy to please???? Never done that before and don't imagine I ever will. Hope you're having a good weekend!!
None of us wants to buy cracked eggs, but color is a big deal for some people. They eat only white or brown shell eggs. But swapping less expensive eggs for pricer ones is another form of theft. Interesting image.
I always check for cracked ones but never heard of changing them out for more expensive eggs! I haven't been around because my dad has been in the hospital but I love your jingle bell tree!
I always thought the clerks were checking to make sure I wasn't getting cracked eggs...
This is ridiculous, but sadly, it happens. And on another side, here in Quebec, at least, and perhaps other places as well, (before the farmers were stamping dates on the actual eggs), store clerks were taking the unsold eggs out of the older dated cartons and putting them into cartons with later dates.
So it is not just the customers.
I look for cracked ones but I've never changed them out. I just find a different carton with no cracked eggs in it. I never realized people did that.

When I buy eggs I only pay attention to the date. Cracked eggs are hardly found, but if found, a clerk calls a staff to change cartons.
There’s no such problem in Japan as far as I know, but shoplifting by elderly people is increasing. I guess living on only pension is a hard thing.

Really? People will actually take eggs from one carton and put them in another?? What a bunch of criminals. I'll check for broken ones, and then take a different carton, but would never ever change the eggs.

Okay, that's a new one to me. I had never heard of swapping out eggs for the more expensive ones. I'll be watching more closely when I'm at the store.
I confess! I do look for cracked eggs. (But I do not swap them.)
We have a system where the vendor delivers the eggs home :)

I see this all the time... never thought about people switching better eggs. When I find a cracked one I discard the whole box and find another.
I do not like eggs very much...
I just check to see if the carton's got uncracked eggs, same as Bob.
That is weird... who would think they could get away with swapping eggs? What that really boils down to is stealing. :(
Well, that's a new one on me. If I saw someone doing this I would be amused and cracked up but wouldn't dream of egging them on.

In truth I have never seen anyone move eggs from one carton to another...just check for broken eggs. Love the image. Very creative!!
Wow, that's one I've never thought of! ( I just don't have enough criminal tendencies)... If I know the Supermarket I don't even check for cracks because hey do that for me!
