The Freedom Library

Marion County (in which Ocala is located) has an excellent public library system.

The Freedom Library is one of several branches of the Marion County Library, and is located in southwest Ocala. It is a fine institution and provides many wonderful services to the community.

Note:  My initial posting included a rant on the rabid right-wing nogoodniks who have a choke-hold on this community and are literally destroying our world.  While I'm not walking back what I said, it is probably best if such feelings are left unexpressed on a photo blog.

Libraries are one of the fundamentals of a healthy society. Why the Usual Suspects can't see it that way is a profound disappointment on so many levels.

This stirs up all the anger that I felt when I lived in the South and why I'll never live there again! Your last paragraph says it all. Thank you, Lowell.

Uh, nice picture. The rant? Not so much.

Lovely photo, Lowell. :)

Probably best I missed the rant. I don't need much confirmation that we're headed to hell in a handbag.

Darn it, I have a feeling I would have enjoyed the rant Lowell! Sorry I missed it. Living in the state capital, I am reminded daily of those nogoodniks you referenced, including our so-called governor (who we refer to as "Voldemort" and not just because of what he looks like). Anyway, that's a nice looking library you have there!

DO "they" want to take away your library? Hope not! I certainly understand not wanting to make your political views open on your blog.

Glad you spared us the rant...

The problem is that the rest of the population, that can read, but do not bother, fail to vote the bad guys out of office. Perhaps they deserve what they get?

A good library system is important to democracy. Sorry I missed your rant because in a democracy I think it's important to hear all sides of a story. But you are correct that it shouldn't be part of a photo blog. :)

I was on a similar rant just last night at a dinner party. Fortunately everyone there was like-minded.

Great to see your splendid library. Hope it remains open for many years to come.

I will try and take some more photos inside Coventry Cathedral in the next couple of weeks. I was surprised to see that I have only done a few posts from inside. I tend to be drawn to the Cathedral ruins. I'll fix that! Have a good weekend!
