Jennings Citrus

This citrus stand is located in central Florida at the junction of Hwy 301 and State Road 486; that's actually in The Villages. Although this is our citrus season and our citrus trees are filled with fruit, this stand claims to sell citrus from the Indian River area which is much closer to south Florida. Not only, so, but they sell pecans and peaches from Georgia which is about 150 miles north!

Hmmm. We have farm stands that open up in early summer and sell fruit and veggies that NO WAY could have been grown here even though signs suggest otherwise. :)

I'll take the peaches, but leave the pecans. Why anyone would eat those, I have no idea.

Eat local! Maybe their 'local' is bigger than I would define it.

Nothing as good as pecan pie! There are pecan trees all over my neighborhood because it used to be part of an old pecan plantation. I don't like shelling them though!

Fruits are sweeter from the neighbour's yard I suppose :)

Heck. I think sometimes the only way to get truly local produce is to grow your own or get it from your neighbor who comes to your front door begging you to take it off his or her hands.

Now I have to look and see where you are on the map. When you say 'Georgia' is 150 miles north...I was surprised.

Fruit and pecans...nothing better. I had the best pecans last summer in Texas.

i think it is funny that georgia is the "peach state"...while living there we hardly saw any peach trees...way more in sc!

Is the fruit good? I don't mind paying the fruit stand premium if it's at least tasty! So much fruit from the regular grocery store has no taste at all.
