This car and trailer came from Alaska. I asked the driver "Canoe kayak in Alaska?" He said, "Not in January, you idiot!"
Here is where paddlers enter and disappear
These brave folks were never heard from again.
Gator infested waters. Plus a few turtles.
There's strength in numbers.
I warned this guy not to enter that dark area. But did he listen? Nooooooo!
They just left the ramp and she's already needing Dramamine !

Your pics from here always make me want to go kayaking! That is a long drive from Alaska!
That Alaskan is way far from home!
Too funny, nicely composed photos Lowell. Are there gators in that area because if there are, that's not a place for me.
My parents have an area similar to this close to their house. Great spot for a kayak!
Alligators!! I would have been the person who listened to you Lowell ☺ Super shots, it does look tempting!
Not to mention snakes! Beautiful pictures but I could never do it myself.
About your comment on basements in Florida. There are a few here in Tallahassee, but only in houses that are built on lots that have a hill. The houses look like they are one story in the front and then you go around back and there are two levels with the lower one sometimes being a basement. I think that is the case with the house I showed in my post.
We get lots of Alaskans coming down our way for the balmy winters in Washington. But I don't see kayakers around here this time of year. Maybe we need more of an edge, like gators.
You are funny! Beautiful place to kayak!
I love the light, colours and reflections in your photos, Lowell!
Beautiful scenes....but honestly, it doesn't take much for a gator to tip a canoe.....
Lovely river
You wanted to know what effect or plugin I used on my posting of the mural yesterday. On the photo I reduced the the size of the photo then I add sharpening. That's it. Software I use ACDSee Pro 9 and Nik Collection. The Nik Collection used to sell for $200. Google now offers it as free download. You will need One of the Adobe products or ACDSee to use it as a plugin. Hope you find this helpful.
Que maravilha este belo canal.
Gostei bastante das fotografias.
Um abraço e boa semana.

Looks a nice area for canooing.
Beautiful images, Lowell, but with gators and snakes it is not a place for me...
Are you secretly a journalist. Such fun writing and a great photo essay. Makes me want to be there!

Don't think I would enter the gator infested water with a Kayak. They are just glorified swim toys. I usually wind up swimming when I take our kayak out. Might try it with a stable Jon boat. The gators must see these boats as a tasty snack in a plastic wrapper.
"Never heard from again..." Who's the idiot now?
I have canoed before but never kayaked---similar I suppose. But NOT in gator infested waters.

Looks so picturesque. A wonderful advertisement for Florida. When I hear the mention of gators and snakes...I'm thinking I'll pass on trying out one of those Kayaks.
Your mention of 'Sherlock Holmes' made me laugh. I had the same thought :). We just started watching the newest BBC series.
Loved your photo essay! Your captions are captivating!
