Kayaks Out Of Water

You've seen them on top of cars, in the back of pickup trucks, on trailers of various types. You've seen them in the Gulf of Mexico, on our local lakes, floating down the Rainbow River and in the shark-infested gator-infested waters of the Silver River and its tributaries.

The ones you see above are but a few of the numerous kayaks for sale at Dick's Sporting Goods store. They're cheap. Buy one and head for the waterways. And remember, turtles won't hurt you, water moccasins will chase you and bite you (sometimes fatally), gators may come after you but they eat only once every 30 days (or so I've been told) and the occasional monkey will just laugh at you. Yes, there are some monkeys in the area around Silver Springs.

One other word of caution: If, when you're hauling your kayak to the boat ramp, you see a gator lurking in the bushes, don't stop and feed it popcorn.  Retreat quietly and quickly. Those suckers can run up to 35 mph!

On the thirtieth day, the gators want their kayakers/ lunch to not be paying attention.

I think I would like to try it one day. Maybe on the day after the gators eat!

I won't be doing any of that, but the advice is good. I love all those pretty colors! Oh and you are right about those water moccasins chasing you. I learned that at a very young age!

Nothing like taking out a kayak and spending the day in the water.

A love and hate relationship for kayaking!

I don't know, Lowell. Our waters up here can be perilous from winds and tide but there aren't quite as many critters out to get you. I know it certainly isn't as warm and cozy but those gator jaws are darned intimidating. (Did you get my email? Have you cleared the cache in your browser? Did that help?)

I think I'm going to just admire the canoes in your photo 😊 I wasn't sure what a water moccasin was Lowell, thanks to Google I now know, definitely not going in the water there 😀😀

Thanks for the gator feeding tip. Since you will not be using ACDSee you will need one of the Adobe photo editors for Nik to work. It is a plugin.

I think I'll pass on the kayak altogether.

Well, you've done your part for the Chamber of Commerce here ;>)... people will be flocking to come rent one of those kayaks. (Thanks I appreciate it -- maybe the traffic will let up a bit. (I'm here, everybody else stay home ;>)
