TooJay's Gourmet Deli - Spanish Springs, The Villages
Toojay's also has a presence in the other "downtowns" of The Villages: Lake Sumter Landing and Brownwood. Toojay's is the closest thing to a New York deli that you will find in central Florida.
Ahhh...but is it close enough? We have one here that has been around for many, many years called Miracle Mile. They come pretty close. When I first moved to Arizona, they came close in food as well as attitude. Now days, the food is still good but they've dropped the "attitude".
I rarely drive to The Villages, even though I am addicted to NY style Deli and think TooJay’s is excellent. They should have one in the Ocala area, with its large Jewish and Eastern population. I used to have a good contact with them, but she told me they had decided to pass on Ocala. I lost all respect for them since then, but we still use them for catering the Jewish sub luncheon once a year her in OTOW. I have learned to live without deli, but do miss it. Maybe they are anti Semitic.
I hope TooJay's is not anti-Semitic as they are owned by Jewish people! :) But you knew that so I'm guessing you're just being funny. The one in Spanish Springs is still pretty good, but you can skip the one in Sumter Landing...they've gone down hill in terms of food quality and service. There's a new one in Brownwood but we haven't been there yet.
Delis are my favourite places to visit. We have a terrific one in our neighbourhood now operated by three generations. Food is fantastic, too. Very habit-forming!

It looks inviting from this side. Have you been there?
Ohhhh....I love this place, Lowell! It looks like fun! Would love to see the inside if you go in, and the food they serve. :)
It makes me think of great dill pickles and a corned beef on rye which I haven't had for years!

Good eating to you!
I'd go on in and give it a try.
I like to try meals from other countries when we travel.
Un abrazo.
Lovely ambiance fora deli. Are those golf carts?

Looks good Lowell, especially as you've shown it here. You can't beat a good deli, the supermarket section for deli products is never as good!
We ate there or at least one of them, on our visit. Must have been pretty good, or else I wouldn't remember it.
