The first photo above provides a better view of the museum, classrooms, etc., all of which are used extensively by educational institutions in the area.
The photos following show some of the buildings that comprised this 19th century village. The first is a home, the second is a blacksmith shop, the third, which I originally thought was a school, seems to be a church what with the cross on top, and the last, "Cracker Cow Camp," I'm not sure about.
Some of these are originals, others have been created recently. But they do offer an interesting look at how people lived in this part of Florida a couple hundred years ago.

It reminds me of the old west. It's a nice looking village, I like the blacksmith's shop.
Cracker Cow Camp. You don't hear that combination too often.

Is this near The Villages? My parents moved near there when they first retired. They loved the area.
Looks like 19th Century life in north Florida was hard. Fine photos of this museum.
My goodness! Wheelchair ramps in the 19th century! How forward thinking! Cracker cows must be very, very small to fit into that little enclosure. It makes me wonder if they may have been somehow related to our present day goldfish crackers. They're very small, too.
I love the old buildings. Looks like a fascinating day out.

I think it's a wonderful idea to keep the history going Lowell.. although I think future generations will get less and less interested in the past.. what a sad thought hey 😐
I love seeing all these old buildings, they spur on some past memories. I have a vague memory of driving through the south when I was just a kid with my parents and seeing house after house that looked like these. That was probably sometime in the 50's.

I'm catching up on your posts and this looks like a wonderful place to take my grandkids! I love seeing the old buildings. They remind me of buildings that were still standing on property my grandparents lived on when I was a kid. Very "old Florida" looking.
Looks like a pretty nice park---actually kinda like the Stanwood fairgrounds with the old buildings. Educational too--a bonus.
