HITS (Horses In The Sun) is back in town!

HITS is a massive spectacle of jumping horses and beautiful riders engaged in numerous contests over a period of 10 weeks with $4 million dollars at stake.  The winner of the final competition on March 25 will receive $1 million dollars.

People come from all over the United States and other countries to bring their horses and hopes and dreams to HITS.

HITS is held at the Post Time Farm, a 450-acre spread some 10-15 miles northwest of Ocala.  Post Time Farm offers contestants 100 permanent padlocks, and 30 permanent barns.

We spent a day watching the training, the exercises and the competitions.  We go to HITS each year because it is such great fun.  You haven't lived until you feel the earth move under your feet as a beautiful horse thunders by to leap over a barrier I would need a bridge to cross!

We will be showing more of the HITS experience in the days ahead.  What you see in this post is part of an actual competition.  The young lady and her steed were amazing!

They are so beautiful -- wonderful action shots!! (It's great to see the work of true professionals ... whether horse and rider OR their photographer)!

Your photos take me back to my teenage years when I had a big jumping horse. This horse and rider look great over the jumps. Where we live now is more about rodeo than horse show.

Great action shots, Lowell! This would be a great event to see and photograph. It doesn't hurt that horses are such beautiful animals to watch.

Ice carving in Ottawa, HITS in Ocala, Mexican skiiers in skull suits at the Winter Olympics in Korea, so many exciting events happening in the world. Ever thankful for the digital era for keeping up with all of this.

Eagerly awaiting more HITS photos. This white horse is a beauty.

Oh I would be right there watching this too Lowell! I am very much going to enjoy seeing this event through your lens, especially as it means I don't have to get on an aeroplane ☺ Brilliant images here.

Wonderful action shots Lowell! I remember you posting about this event before. We have a smaller one here called the Red Hills Horse Trials. One of these days I'm going to go watch!

Lots of action and you captured it well. I laughed when you said, "a beautiful horse thunders by to leap over a barrier I would need a bridge to cross". Love your humor Lowell. :)
