Fox Squirrel

First of all, I apologize for the poor quality of these photos. But fox squirrels are really goofy and do not stay still for more than a second at a time. I've posted photos of these squirrels before when I first made their acquaintance, about 5-6 years ago.

They are cute, but very sneaky. When you're not watching, they will burglarize your golf cart and make off with whatever goodies you may have stored there. They especially like chocolate bars with peanuts.

The reason they are called fox squirrels is because they look similar to a fox when they run.

Oh, very cute, little thief or not. Like monkeys in India. A friend, when in India, surprised a monkey that had entered her room through the window. (Always close your window....) It was holding a package of potato chips. They looked at each other in total surprise, then the monkey flung the bag out the window to his accomplice, and left.

Re: my post. I've only tasted one mulberry and didn't like it. May be better in jam....

Cute, but I am a curmudgeon when squirrels are around. They are dirty, messy, destructive, and unwelcome guests in our yard. Their "cuteness" makes them even more evil!!

These are great shots of this enterprising fellow. I think he's wondering what you have hidden in your cart....or your pockets.

I really like squirrels. I've had a lot of them in my yard over the years because of so many trees, but have never had a problem with them.

Don't worry about the quality of the photos, both are lovely and show what a curious critter it is!

I see this cute little guy has posed nicely for you. Two good portraits resulted. But as you say, they are sneaky so I would not leave any food out that is not intended for them.

They sound like our local deer. Big, innocent looking eyes. Perky ears. Sweet looking animals. Our gentle seeming deer will ravage a garden and call all their friends. Your squirrels probably network and identify the golf carts with the best treats.

No wonder you’re stressed and need a break what with foxy squirrels stealing your golf cart and all! And here (in Oregon) everybody asks us how we manage to survive the alligators and pythons. Wait till I tell them about the squirrels!
