Meet Me at Belk

The other day a friend of mine called to say he wanted to talk to me about something important. I said, "OK, meet me under the Belk sign at the mall."

My friend never showed up.

A few days later when I asked him what happened, he said, "Well, I went to the mall parking lot but couldn't see the Belk sign, so I left."

Obviously my friend is not very bright.  Or, he wouldn't be if I had a friend like that.

But I made up the story just so I could have a good reason for posting this photo.

I wonder what Belk would think of your story.

The trees do dominate the sign. Perhaps the store does not care that their sign is obscured and are about to go out of business? Yes, politics is strange here as well. Billy Sutton is from a wealthy ranch family well known to provide livestock for rodeos. I am hoping he gets elected. His opponent was the least educated member of the House of Representatives when she was there and now wants to be our governor.

That name makes me think of sounds a less polite soul might make after a bit too much ale. (And they really should do something about that tree, though the tree probably belongs to the mall and the mall probably doesn't want to trim it and it's probably tough luck for belk. But I suppose with a name like belk they've already got plenty of tough luck.)
