Murphy's Oyster Bar

Murphy's Oyster Bar is something of an anomaly in Ocala. It looks like the kind of place that should be on the beach, not in Central Florida. We've not patronized the place as yet, so have no idea what it's really like.

Has interesting colors, though.

This kind of place really should be on the beach, I hope it is as good as the 'interesting colors' are bright. Very nice capture and thanks again for the 'moon shot' instructions.

I like the colors too! Looks like a nice place. When I was expecting my daughter, I could not eat enough raw oysters. Now I'm a little afraid to eat them.

Very nice colors, and yes, it's a bit strange to find an oyster bar with this look so far from the beach. Enjoy it when you try it out :-)

Hi Jacob, I wonder what made them open shop inland? Hmmm

You showed several photos of Seven Sisters Inn a while back & said that they were looking for a buyer - Do you know what happened w/ that? I was just curious - Like you said, we can't have ghosts running around w/ no place to haunt! hehehe

@ Tricia...I have no idea about the Oyster Bar, but it is so incongruent...it just doesn't fit...located on a major highway in an area of low-rent motels - lots of drugs and prostitutes - I don't get it.

Re: the 7 Sisters Inn...we heard a while back it had been sold...but yesterday we drove by and the For Sale sign was still out front...so now we're not sure.

It was sold at one point but the buyers backed out after they lost their home in the fires in California...that left everyone in a mess financially...

I'll let you know what happens.

How much weirder is it that we have an oyster bar in Tuscaloosa? right on the river!
Yours is definitely more colorful.

Thanks Jacob! I logged into to my page this morning & found a new follower & started looking over their page where there was an article about The Seven Sisters Inn in Ocala & I had remembered your post about the place - plus, a friend of mine lives there too. It seems that several paranormal investigators started a petition & rallied to save the place. I also read that the CEO of the bank that foreclosed on the Inn had bought the place for $100,000 & will liquidate the 2 homes and the interior items & from what I read, nobody is happy w/ that at all. Let me see if I can find that page.

I'm interested in knowing what happens, so if you hear anything, let me know. Thanks!

If the oyster bar is in that kind of neighborhood, I don't think I'd be stopping to try out the food. LoL!

Thank you, Tricia...I'll try to keep up with things...it really would be a shame if these buildings went bye-bye...

Bankers, though...well...

I like it a lot. I tried it last time I was in Ocala. I went there twice is 5 days. They have happy hour 12-7 every day. The oysters were EXCELLENT and very reasonable price and every thing else we tried was good and reasonable price. I recall bucket of (5) iced beer was 15.00 for the non-domestic beers and they have a big beer selection. I will go there again this Friday when I am in Ocala. I recommend it.

My wife and I had a great time.

Im sorry to say but this place is horrible. I went there with a few of my friends and everything was bad. Also what a neighborhood to be in. I do not recomend this place, if you've been there, I dont know why. If you havent its not a place you will want to eat at.
