Hot Dog Lady and Pixel Perfect Award
The Hot Dog Lady as she is commonly known, has been a fixture in Ocala's downtown square for a number of years. Not too long ago, the City Council tried to move her out, but there was an outburst of outrage and they backed off. So, she still sells her hot dogs on the corner to most everyone's delight.
Dusty Lens, the erstwhile blogger from Minneapolis, Minnesota has been designated to receive the Pixel Perfect award!
This prestigious award is given to a photo blogger who exhibits exceptional photographic skills in terms of artistic creativity, composition, sharpness and exposure.
Dusty Lens meets those criteria in a walk! Please check out his blog here and give your eyes a treat!

The Hot-Dogs must have been really delicious to have created an outburst and outrage!!
Congrats to Dusty lens for the pixel perfect award!
Hi Jacob. I love boar's head hot dogs and I'll check out Dusty's blog thanks for the heads up.
Oh and when you get the chance will you let me know how you make your photos so large and still keep the quality. When I try they look horrible even with my new camera.
Thanks.
J'aime bien les petits commerces comme cela ! Heureusement que celui-ci n'a pas été chassé par les voitures.
Bravo pour the piwel awards !
I agree with Dusty for this award
This image is so lively and true, a gret image of city life. I like the story about the lady, glad to see that she's still there. And... I really love hot dogs!
Great street scene! I love it. The best pictures are those with people on it.
I lived in a city once, where they mandated that any establishment that sold food had to provide washing facilities or their customers. Created quite an uproar and was ultimately repealed.
Glad she got to stay!
I'm glad the hot dog lady got to stay!
congrats on the award
Hi James - When you get a chance, send me an e-mail and I'll respond in some detail to your concerns...
Meanwhile, thanks for coming by and have a great day!
She looks to be a very friendly vendor. I hate it when the city bigwigs try to run everyone out who doesn't fit their "image." I'm glad hot-dog lady got to stay!
Oh my dad would have loved the Hot Dog Lady .. great shot!
Why is the hot dog lady not wearing a bikini? In South Florida, they used to wear bikini's and sold a lot more hot dogs. LOL! Congratulations Dusty Lens on your award!
Glad to know that she is still there selling her famous hot dogs!
Luna and I visited Dusty's blog ! Soooo cool!
God bless you
Léia ;-)
Hungry all of a sudden....
Oh I love this shot. It is so exotically (and quintessentially -is that a word?)American! Do I take it the temperature has dropped a little? It's STIFLING here, waiting for thunderstorms.
Hi CQ - Yes, it's not as hot today. At 2 PM, it is only 91 degrees...but will warm up a bit further.
Sorry about your stifling heat. When we were in Versailles in late June two years ago it was so bitter cold we darn near froze to death!
And "quintessentially" is a great word. Thus the Eiffel Tower is quintessentially Paree. But I think you knew that and are pulling my leg, to use a figure of speech! ;-)
Jake: I am not sure whether a Swedish gal more scantily dressed would have made that much of a difference. Your hot dog picture shows free enterprise and good energy although I am not a hot dog eater anymore except at a ballgame. Poor cow or pig, Right?!
Hi Lee: But isn't a scantily dressed Swedish girl more fun to look at? ;-)
Re: Hot dogs...yeah poor cow, pig, horse, rabbit, goose ... who knows what's in those things these days?
I am so glad the city council listened to the people. Good for the Hotdog Lady.
Congrats to DustyLens. MB
Hooray! I'm glad the hotdog lady won!
Bravo! That's what we need more of; people taking control and telling government to mind their own business. Viva le hot dog vending anarchist.
Thank you for this award, much appreciated! My apologies for not getting around sooner. I been busy trying to find work on top of home projects.
I love this shot and love even more the story that goes with it. It is great when people will rally around figureheads to protect them from city councils or school boards. It amazes me how in some cases they are so far out of touch with their constituents. I see the tavern in the background. That looks like the area where the 'tin cup' would be from your post last week.
Congrats to Dusty. I have been a fan of his work for some time and will hopefully get a chance to go shoot with him tomorrow.
'On 'ya Hot Dog woman! Who wants to shop in shopping malls? You always give 100% to CDP...well done!
Hi Asta...I don't think books...maybe a couple of magazines...mostly hot dogs, sodas, and chips. I believe she does a thriving business during the lunch hour with people who work in the area, plus the tourists that wander about the downtown area...
