Butch Aten, D.V.M., Melanie and Brit, the Guard Cat

Dr. Butch Aten has operated the Baseline Animal Hospital for the past five years. His motto is "Quality Medicine, Quality Care." Just recently, Dr. Aten treated our Golden Retriever, Haley, for an ear infection. He provided quality care and quality medicine, and Haley's doing just fine. Kudos to Dr. Aten!

This is Melanie, Dr. Aten's assistant. Melanie has a way with animals, as you can tell. In this photo, she's holding Brit, whom I have named the Guard Cat. It would appear that Brit runs the place - sometimes from the top of Melanie's desk! The Guard Cat takes no guff from anyone, especially canines!

Here's Brit the Guard Cat in its position of authority, high atop a file cabinet, where it can survey its domain and all who enter therein. Pay the proper respect and the Guard Cat will allow you the privilege of taking its photograph. Fail to pay the proper respect, you're likely to get a tail in the face and a failed photo opportunity.

Wonderful photos and portraits!!! My dear ,dear Golden Retriever, Baxter, had endless ear "issues'. I can relate. Why is it that veterinarians seem to be more empathetic and compassionate than our ...... well you know. Bless these nice folks that take care of your best friend! Awwwww! :)

Well I hope Haley is feeling better. It is always nice to find a good animal Doc. He may have to treat you someday. gorgeous guard cat. MB

No doubt about who's in charge. Brit, the Guard Cat, probably deserved the first place...
Nice set of photos, very good portraits.

Nice portraits of people and cat. But I must admit the third picture is my favorite. You really caught the kitty's expression well. Glad he's in good hands!

I think our vets are just as important as our regular doctors. I know my doc knows my animals by name. Brit is a nice looking cat, but you are right, I dont think I would want to cross it.

I don't usually like visits to the vet but this one was perfectly delightful. Brit is a stunning guard cat. Thank you, Jacob. -Brattcat

There is nothing quite like a tail to the face to ruin a good day.

The Guard Cat rulez...hail to the Guard Cat!

I am loving these photos .. we took our Gus cat in for his yearly check up (he's in excellent health for a 15 yr old cat who has had diabetes and asthma since he was a kitten) and while we waited our turn I took a photo of their office manager cat named Jack .. he sleeps in the same exact cushion thingie as Brit!!!!!

Nice that Dr. Aten, Melanie and of course Guard Cat are properly thanked. It's so often we don't receive the level of care that your dog did.

The cat - who looks very healthy by the way - is giving you a very suspicious stare. One can only imagine what he is thinking. (Huge paws and claws!)

Either the girl is tiny, or the cat is actually a lion, a big one! He looks very healthy indeed!

Brit is so totally charming! I would feel confident to take Luna to this place, it looks like they do a good job and really care about the critters!
God bless you!

Wow, that's a big and beautiful cat. The last shot is great, it looks like it's thinking: what do I do? Play gator and lunge at him? ;-)

My kinda kitty & he's/she's beautiful! I love that fur, but is she shaved? That's odd!

Lowell said...

@ Tricia - shaved to give a "lion" - like look!

Hurrah for the good doctor!

This is definitely a gorgeous cat; look at those eyes. Bibi hates to go to the vet (she always gets some sort of injection) and the possibility of facing a cat like this would be the last straw.

You got some very nice pictures of a beautiful cat with personality! And do have to say, it's wonderful to have a vet you can feel good about! I remember from the days when I had real animals and not just on-line animals :)

Gosh, this one brought back memories! I worked at an animal hospital for twelve years before I retired. I was the office manager. Great portraits!

Nice to meet Haley's medical staff. *g* I think it's just great to have competent people in charge. BTW, how is Haley's relationship to Brit. (:

Lowell said...

@ Buenos Aires - Haley loves cats; but when she got too close to Brit, Brit hissed. Haley likes to play with cats. When they run, she chases them. Some cats do not find that amusing.

Love that last shot. She is peaking out at us.
