Mural by Ed Graves, an Ocala artist

We posted a partial and different view of this building yesterday. It faces Magnolia Avenue and is called Ritter's Beer Garden. The owner, Scott Ritter, wanted a "Bavarian-looking" mural on the Fort King side of the building, and thus contracted with local artist, Ed Graves, to paint it.

I think Ed did a great job. By the way, those windows and doors don't open!

Oh, you're just so "artsy-fartsy" in Ocala! Do they were Liederhosen around there, too?!

Neat looking, you sure that door and window done open?

Id'd hate to have had some suds, leave the place go around the back and decide to return for another through the back door!

I was going to say, some of those look very real. Did they just choose not to use them so the mural (which is great) wouldn't be disrupted?

the colors are so great! It reminds me of how I would of liked things to be as a kid - all straight lines and bright colors. Red doors are my faves and I really like the real one. I wonder if the voissoirs arching the doorway are made of fossiliferous limestone... (I'm showing off by quoting a description from an 1950's/1960's article about an extremely unusual house in Palos Verdes that I'm planning to post very soon.)

I like the fake stones around the doorway and the fake steps. At first I didn't realize those two items were also painted on! I must be sleepy!

So cute! If you type 'trompe l'oeil' in the search box on my blog, you'll see one I did. This one of yours reminds me of wall art nearby. Need to shoot it...

I can see myself banging into one of those red doors! Great public art! It is the kind of photo that will come to mind next time we're in Ocala. Oh, I saw that on ODP!

Sort of Bavaria meets Texas in South Florida ...

Bavarian? Wow, Ocala has gone totally Germanic. Are you thinking of enlisting Graves to do some murals on your new interior walls?? Swiss alps. Arizona desert? Cedar Key sunset would be nice.

I know!! An entire wall of faux books. Yep! Every tome you've ever owned or coveted recreated in paint. (NO dusting.) Just a thought.

Very German looking, indeed!

Bavaria is home to my favorite castle, the one Cinderella's castle was inspired from - Neuschwanstein Castle. Oh how I dream of touring that beautiful castle one day!

Do I sound too much like a dreamer? heheheee I can't help it, so what if I still wish for a fairytale life!

You are right, he did a great job of painting this. It must get a lot of hand prints on it from people trying to find the door handle.

I think this would be a good facade for the Sherriff's office. I guess it's the stars.
