Downtown post of unknown origin

I don't remember seeing this "post" (or whatever) before in downtown Ocala. We looked it over very carefully and have no clue as to what it is for. I suppose it could be a hitching post but you don't see a lot of horses downtown even if Ocala is the "Horse Capitol of the World"!

Hi Halcyon. That's the same thing I said!

By the way, we were just watching the Viking tournament on the Golf Channel - did you get out to see any of it?

peut être une oeuvre 'pop art' juste pour que les gens se demandent se que cela représente :))

No doubt inconspicuously installed by aliens from outer space.

Hmmmmm! You mean you never saw it there before and it just appeared? Odd indeed. I'm going along with Halcyon---she makes sense. MB

Looks a lot like our public ashtrays at home. Or, a good thing to tie your boat to.

I didn't make it to the Viking Classic. My hubs is out of town and couldn't find anyone to go with me. :(

Ah well... there weren't any players I was so keen on following anyway.

There's another one across the street. Maybe they grow up to be lightposts?

Probably a street ornament. Or not. :)

Is the mystery solved with any of these tips? :-)

Verrrrry interesting .... looks like it might be (a) a sawed off street sign (b)a street lamp for little people (c) a mistakenly painted black fire alarm box or (d) none of the above tho I think that little 'door' at the bottom is hiding electrical connections ...

I think it was original red, and it could be a sign to say "no stop here please", something like that...( because I've already seen a kind of this stuff in some movies...maybe (?)...).
I like so much the white car, and there is a sweet light reflection there!Beautiful!

It's a parking meter in disguise.
