Southern Pig & Cattle Co.

Southern Pig & Cattle Co. is a new restaurant in town.  So far it's been well-received and is doing a bang-up business.  It is a "smokehouse" and features, therefore, beef and pork, although they do serve other meats and fish.  The business offers a super salad bar and very fast service.

When you walk in you seat yourself (there is ample seating) and within seconds a waitress appears at your table.  We've eaten at Southern Pig & Cattle Co. a number of times and have, every time, been surprised at how fast the food arrives, hot and ready!

The prices are right and they provide a very special and very welcome treat - soft-serve ice cream in cones.  And it's self-service.  When you leave or just before you leave, you draw yourself a soft-serve ice cream cone.  It's delicious and a perfect way to complete the meal.  Best of all, it's free!

When you arrive and walk up to the front door, you're presented with two gauges (notice the 3rd and 4th photos above) one of which tells you the time of day, and they other the temperature, which is a nice touch.

It sounds and looks like a good spot for a meal.

The fahrenheit scale is still peculiar to me- I'm assuming that's warm or even hot, but 32 degrees is a ridiculous marker for the freezing point.

The name certainly tells you what they serve! What does vegetarian Lois Anne have there?

It looks like a great place and the food sounds good too. I went to a BBQ place with my daughter in Orlando that also had free soft serve ice cream cones. Unfortunately, that was the only good thing about it and we won't be going back!

Unfortunately, I don't find the name appealing. But it sounds like they have great service, so maybe I would give it a try! :)

Sounds like a great place for a City Daily Photo meet up. Let me know if you have one. Summer would be a great time!

Love the clocks Jacob but I'm with Hal, the name doesn't appeal and I have no idea what a 'Babybacks' is but pretty sure I'm not going to be wanting to eat one :) :)

Interesting place. I'll go for the Ice Cream but you can have the rest. Looks busy though.

Hi Lowell, Irene and I have been enjoying dinner there frequently since they opened! The service and the food is great and we always enjoy our dinner there. The manager told me they were opening another on the east side of Ocala. They have a very smooth operation and deserve the success they are having. Now all we need is a TooJays and I will be happy with the wide selection of ethnic food in Ocala.

Reasonable price, delicious meals, quick and comfortable service, neat and clean shop, yummy ice cream cone to finish…, sounds like a perfect restaurant. How functional; one side is a clock, the other is a thermometer.
