The Tale of an old Cart

Note:  This scene was photographed in Spanish Springs, The Villages.

With regard to the title, I'm exaggerating a bit.  If there is a "tale" here, I don't know it.  But this cart, created to give the impression of age, and another time, may have been based upon a tale.  It was obviously built to carry items from one place to another.

The black and white treatment was an afterthought, and because colored photos were not utilized at the time these carts represent, I thought it might be a good idea to see what this old cart looked like in b&w.

Which do you like best?

This post was cross-posted to our blog on The Villages, which you can find HERE.

Nice old cart. I like both versions, the colour version because I love seeing the rust and the b&w version simply because it gives you the old vintage look. Choices can be hard sometimes.

I prefer the colour version.

I like the color version. It looks like it has a story to tell.

I think I like the color the best since you can see the rich tones of the rust and see how weathered the wood is too!

I like the first photo because I like rust and the bits of red. I would love to have this!

Hmmm. I think I'm partial to the black and white. But I also think I'd fool around with the contrasts and juice it up a bit. Or not.

In this case I prefer the b&w version, Lowell.
It lets more room for imagination.

Il colore rende l'immagine di questo oggetto molto usato, più veritiera

These flat cards were used a lot in the textile mills around Greensboro, back in the day...

Oh you didn't give us enough clues Lowell.. was it outside a restaurant for instance? I think I'm going with black and white.. just because I can 😀😀

That really does look like an old cart. It makes me wonder if it really is old or if it's been carefully constructed to look old. I'll go for the color shot. I like seeing the fading paint and the rust.

The black and white works but i wish you would remove the watermarking.

It looks like an old baggage cart from old railroad days. I'm not an old railroad so I don't really know

I can't decide! I like them both.

I see that the rubber plant is trying to add some rubber to those iron wheels. Yes, I think this is an old railroad baggage cart. It has a hook on the back so several carts can be ganged together. I like the b&w version, but color is good also.

The B&W makes the cart look very authentic.
