Camping at Silver Springs State Park

There are several camping facilities available at Silver Springs State Park on the east side of Ocala. One offers a half dozen rustic cabins in the woods, but you need a reservation and you have to request one about a year ahead of time.

There are also spaces for the large RVs seen pictured above.  Additionally, there are many open camp sites for people with small campers, tents, etc.

This photo was taken a couple of months ago when Mother Nature was still in a somewhat subdued mood and the woods were not as green or as luxurious as they are now.

Camping is not my thing... not anymore... but it looks like a nice place with much shadow, good in the summer month.

A cabin in the woods would be my choice. They must be lovely if they are so popular.

What a great place for camping. My sister is on the other side of the country right now with her camper van. They are at Cape Blanco Oregon, a favorite place of hers. These camp spots remind me of the ones in Oregon, sheltered by the trees.

I didn't know you had to reserve a cabin a year in advance. Wow!

It would be a great place to stay so I am not too surprised at the one year wait. A little bit surprised that people are so organized! ;-)

I always camped with a tent. In bad weather, we rented a cabin which is nice too. I haven't camped in a tent now for 8 years, now we just go to a b&b. :) That looks like a fine place to camp, nice and shaded but probably crowded.

It seems to be a spectacular park, but a year to reserve place is a long time.

This looks very pretty. It's gotten so competitive for neat little cabins and special campsites. Even our favorite campsite (not far from home) was mostly booked solid when we reserved last month. Sheesh! So much for spontaneity. I don't mind planning in advance but a whole year is a leap of faith once you reach a certain age.
