Iconic Building - Downtown Ocala

This building is an Ocala landmark, located downtown diagonally across from the town square, but the only remarkable thing about it is the clock & bell tower. I've assumed it housed one or more businesses but at the moment it appears to be undergoing some renovation. I have no clue as to its ultimate destiny.

It's strange how quickly one can get accustomed to things. You don't have to be downtown very long before you find yourself looking up to the bell tower to check the time.

Maybe a more traditionally built building would have fitted more with the clock and bell tower, which by itself looks very nice.

When I see a bell tower and a clock, then it is a church for me :-)

...a landmark? Really?

You are right... without the clock tower the building would be blah.

It certainly is the perfect reference point to arrange to meet someone Lowell.. meet you by the clock tower! I'm guessing there isn't more than one ☺
P.s. the shooting in WA is way down the coast just outside country town Margaret River. I think the newsreaders are getting a bit carried away comparing it to the Port Arthur shooting in Tasmania in 1966 where a gunman shot 35 people. It was sadly a family obviously in crisis but there was no random gunman running around the town shooting everyone in sight. Hopefully the voracious press will let the family grieve in peace.

We do not have towers, but bells are on the walls of some buildings. And their place has learned to remember and always automatically watch the time.

I like the clock tower. It looks like it wants to blast off. :)

What interesting building. It almost looks like the clock tower was added as an after thought.
