Jumbolair Aviation Estates - Home of John Travolta

Beyond these gates lies the home of actors John and Kelly Travolta, and their daughter, Ella. This is an aircraft-friendly community just north of downtown Ocala where most, if not all, homeowners are pilots, and thus their properties include hangers to house their aircraft.

"Normal" people cannot get through the gates except to patronize a resort on the property, but photos of the Travolta home show it to be large and beautiful. Travolta flies in and out of the area frequently, often in his Boeing 707.

Jumbolair Aviation Estates is the "largest licensed, paved and lighted, private airport in the world."

It is said that if you want to get a glimpse of Travolta, you should hang around Walmart in the middle of the night, as he shops there occasionally at that time to avoid the crowds.

Surely a very nice area to live in. Gorgeous blue sky too. Maybe not enough to minimize the grief of loosing a son as he recently did...

Have seen pictures of his home from the air (possibly satellite). That 707 must make a lot of noise.

I think this is so interesting that he can fly right in and out of his house like that! It's not something I would want to do even if I could afford it because I hate flying. I hope they are doing OK. Losing a child has to be the worst thing that could happen to anyone. Thanks again for my award!

I need to get to Ocala one of these days. I have property there, and who knows lately what it's worth? Amazing changes in the past few years there..do you have a pulse on property values?
Thanks for stopping by my blog Jacob, hope you get back out to WA soon!

Hi Sherry,

Yes, there have been amazing changes here, and not all for the good. Property values have dropped dramatically, but even worse, nothing is selling. In our zip code, for example, there are almost 450 homes for sale, and there was NOT ONE sale last month!

Part of the reason is people are buying up the foreclosures for a pittance.

I don't think we've hit bottom yet.

One home near us was listed about a year ago at about $495K. They've dropped the price to $375K and nobody is even looking at it!

Another house close to us was listed at $331K originally and sold 6-8 months ago for $215K!

I'd say hang on to your property. Things will improve, but the bubble grew huge here and it will take awhile for the situation to approach "normal."

I'd love to get to Washington; an incredibly beautiful state. One thing I remember driving in from the airport to Seattle...no billboards! It was wonderful!

Best wishes!

Well, what a beautiful estate, we were out for a drive with friends and came along your beautiful estate. You must have been home as your lovely jumbo jet was in the yard. We could definitely understand why you love this area and your estate is just gorgeous.
