Trio of thoroughbreds

These photos were taken 21 years ago at Meadowbrook Farm. Meadowbrook Farm was owned by the widow of a good friend's brother and raised thoroughbreds, several of which became successful as racehorses. Because we were living in Fort Lauderdale at the time, we stayed overnight on the property and I was able to get these pictures. The horses were young, skittish, and absolutely beautiful.

Meadowbrook was sold some years after that and has now been developed into ugly commercial property. We call that paving over paradise.

What a shame. :-( The second photo is brilliant. Are you going to show us the ugly commercial property?

What great shots. You really convey the untamed beauty of these animals.

Beautiful "vintage" photos and wonderful horses. I too am curious about the ugly present!

Sounds like a line from a Joni Mitchel song.

How very sad. :( At least you captured these wonderful photos of a great past in that area!

That is too bad....must be a really ugly eyesore to those that were used to the rolling meadows......what a shame...

What graceful creatures. You were lucky to get to stay at this place before it was destroyed for "progress".

They're so handsome! I haven't seen real horses in years, much less watch them run like this.

I'm sorry to hear about the farm. It seems to be happening the world over and we're losing so much beauty because of these developments.

About the theme day — I'm answering more than what you asked so you can pass it on to others if they ask :)

- We post on the theme on the first day of the month.
- The announcement of the winning theme, once the voting has closed, will always be found in the Monthly Theme Days forum. (The March theme is Glass.)
- To participate in the theme day, all you have to do is copy the code which can be found in My Account > Theme Days and paste it in your post for the day. (There seems to be problems when you publish without the code, then edit to add the code and re-publish. So try not to forget the code in the first place.)
- Participating blogs for each theme day can be found in Home > Theme Days and all themes are archived so you can visit past themes.
- The poll for the next theme is usually posted a few days after the current theme day and will always be found in the Monthly Theme Days forum too.

Oof. I think that's it. Will look forward to your "Glass" post! :)

Oooh, lovely photos! I love horses, how fun.

Not sure if I know that joke, Jacob.

Okay, Mary. A man is on the beach and finds a bottle with a genie in it. The genie pops out of the bottle and tells the man it's his lucky day and he can have three wishes - anything his heart desires.

So, the man scratches his head, and says OK, I want a brand new Cadillac Convertible. There's a huge flash in the parking lot and when the dust settles there sits his new convertible.

Wow, he says. Okay...my next wish is for the most gorgeous blonde in the world to be my girlfriend. Another flash, and there in the convertible sits a beautiful blonde.

Then he tells the genie he's going to save his last wish for later. The genie says, "That's fine, just be careful what you wish for."

The guy thanks her profusely, jumps in the convertible and takes off down the highway with his arm around the blonde who is snuggled up close.

It's a great day, top down, and he's feeling so good. All of a sudden this commercial jingle pops into his head, and he begins to sing:

Right! "I wish I were an Oscar Mayer wiener."

Ooops!

What a sad state of affairs progress sometimes produces. Thank goodness you have this lovely trio of these joyous horses.

Your shot is nice, but the story is sad ...

Arabian Horses are my favorite. I'm sorry about the property
