This is an older house in the historic district. I'm guessing that someone has a room up there and has decorated the small porch at the top of the stairs.
What a well kept home. Must be a nice view from up there but those stairs would kill me. :=] and thanks for your sympathy re: my taxes.. and if that's the saddest thing you've heard all day, be grateful.. As Peter said, I'm doing my part to support my fellow citizens.. I just hope they appreciate it. LOL
originale cette entrée de la maison. c'est intriguant, tu connais la réponse de cette installation ? the original entrance to the house. is intriguing, you know the answer to this facility?
Lovely porch and lovely house. The stairs are a bit out of sync with the general tone, but probably there are safety requirements. Nice catch, I really like these houses.
@ Olivier - this is the north side of the house. The entrance is in front. I have a feeling they made a special room for a boarder and built the staircase to reach it so the boarder would not come through the main entrance.
@ Karen - re: taxes. They are a pain, but at the same time we couldn't live in a community without them, right - they pay for schools, roads, courts, police, firemen, etc.
I don't mind taxes so long as they are fair - and I believe very much in the "graduated income" approach...
I just don't understand the so-called Tea Parties which have nothing to do with the Boston Tea Party (that was about taxation without representation)...unless you make over $250K a year, you'll get a tax cut.
And TARP, the bailouts, etc., were all initiated by the previous administration...

great composition!, like the bow window in front of the garden!

Reminds me of when I lived in Boston. Most of the Upstairs landings were "individualized" with plants, art, or something to personalize them.
Maybe s/he's renting? He has his way in and out of the room.
Well spotted, Jacob. And the house looks so neat and pretty!
Someone young lives there, of that I'm certain.
What a cute little porch sitting on top of that bay window! Nice shot!
What a lovely and cute house :-)
@ PJ - I agree. Can you imagine hauling bags of groceries up those steps, not to say something large and heavy?

The house looks nice and the little balcony is so cool!
Very nice composition!

Could it be something else is afoot?
Hope you're having a great day!
@ Harry - Thanks for stopping by. I just went to your Dutch site and I am very impressed. I'll be back again and again! Superb work!

this is a beautiful photograph
What a nice house. The grey and white fits so well together.
Sweet, very pretty and clean! Nice capture and clarity!
Great shot, Jacob!
About the porch I say: "Big things come in small packages"
Juergen
If someone lives up there, they get all the exercise they need going up and down those stairs!
I too wonder what else is afoot.
lovely balcony and baywindow!
@ Juergen - Did my e-mail go through all right?
Great shot! I like this house and especially the stairs!:)
How nice whoever lives up there has their own entrance.
I love this photo! It's a kind of house I'd love to own :-)

I don't know if I'd want to carry lots of heavy shopping up those steps! It does look lovely and really well-kept though!

When they advertised it, it probably said "room with a view and private entrance". Looks very cosy.
