Ocala is inundated with churches - the majority of which are Baptist of one stripe or another. There are many fundamentalist independent churches, too. All of which gives rise to the "need" for "Christian" outlets where more conservative Christians can purchase books, plaques, jewelry, pictures, Sunday School materials, and hymnals, etc., that are consistent with their theology. So far as I know, we have at least three Christian outlets or book stores in Ocala.

I guess it's better than selling relics and indulgences...... In many countries there is such limited freedom of expression so it says something good about our open society , that it still perpetuates a principal tenet of our founding.
There is a very similar store near us. My wife and I went there to get our daughter her first bible. There was a lot of good material geared for children.

I think here they won't survive: the unique vaguely religious shop is a bookshop of the Pauline nuns.

I wonder why there's such a high concentration of fundamental Christians in The South. Could it be that people with similar beliefs tend to flock together? Fascinating!

Hmmmm. There is still one shop in Versailles -but then Versailles is quite a staunchly traditional Catholic city. But elsewhere... so rare!
Hi Ciel - It is likely that Catholics would not find much to their liking in this store...generally speaking, Protestant fundamentalists don't consider Catholics to be real "Christians" because they haven't been born again.
Christian "outlet"... still trying to get my head around that...

Interesting post. Haven't seen any "outlets" in Quincy . . . though more storefront churches are showing up and they are mostly Fundamentalist.
Pluralism reigns! Good studies made of the Anglican church- I would have expected it to be "Episcopalian" but I am not up with the topic.
Your dog is splendid, (i have no dog now,) my elderly sister, who recently passed away, had a glorious cream labrador - Linda 2. it has a serious weight problem which will be very bad news for its hips too.
