Door at the Seven Sisters Inn
Many of you will recall our series on the Seven Sisters Inn located near downtown Ocala. You will also recall that it was a bed-and-breakfast consisting of several houses, and that it was HAUNTED, most people believe, by the spirits of the seven sisters who lived there originally!
Well, there were financial problems and the inn has been closed down and the property is being liquidated. Very sad.
But, I think it is still haunted. In fact, I took this photo because of the ghostly figure watching me from inside. Can you see it in the right hand panel...it's moving -- bobbing and weaving! If I wasn't so brave I would have been afraid!

J'aime beaucoup les couleurs de cette photo ! C'est dommage que "the inn" soit fermée ! C'est un effet de la crise économique ?
@ Melanie - With regard to your question: Not directly. The people that owned the inn wanted to sell it. A couple from California agreed to buy it. However, the California people lost their home in California in a forest fire, and suddenly did not have the funds to go through with the purchase as they need the money to rebuild their home that burned.
Meanwhile, the economy crashed. The people who owned the inn could not continue to make the payments and finally the bank foreclosed and put everything up for sale.
It's sad for this was a popular spot for people to come from around the world.
If you missed our previous posts, I'm sure you could find them by googling the Seven Sisters Inn.
It really is sad when things like this happen. Colorful photo Jacob! Love the shadows too.
Wow, what a story!!
But the photo is nice, and I like it.
It is something about the colors, the light, the compositions and lines...
Well seen and well done!:-)
superbe lumière sur cette porte. On a l'impression d'être dans une autre époque
superb light on this door. They have impression to be in an another epoch
Looking at all these shadows, we can think the vegetation is going to devour the house (and you too, take care!)
Hi Jacob !! This is really a great photo indeed !! You are an excellent photographer !! Thanks for sharing..Unseen Rajasthan
I remember quite well the Seven Sisters Inn and I like that, now and then, you keep up posted about its future and... past!
Naw, all I see is blue and yellow. Not bad for a Monday morning!
The photos you posted are stunning, Jacob. Many of them seem like paintings. Bravo!!
Great lighting and ghostly effects! Yes, I see it!
Jacob, you are brave. It would have killed a lesser man!
@ B Squared - Yes, I know. Thank you so much. I felt I had to stay strong so I could continue to show such scenes on City Daily Photo!
Ha! Thank you fearless photographer for keeping us up-to-date. ;-)
Things are closing down all over the place! How sad for such a beautiful inn to shut its doors. The door is lovely though.
I don't see it. It's a shame they had to close, though
I would love to go through that door and snoop around!
really great aprticular and point of view! like the colors!
You made my day! Nice story! I'm glad you survived that haunted house, lol!
I am impressed by your bravery Jacob! I'm also sad that this place has closed. I hope the ghosts scare away anyone who has any ideas about tearing it down!

That's shame. This looks like a nice place.
It's funny that you mentioned ghastly in my Ghostly Workshop post because I actully did have ghastly but I took it out just before I posted it. :-)
Excellent photo! I like the play of the light and shadow on very interesting door:)
Great colours and composition too!
Nice colors and compostion.
Come on! You were shakin' in your boots! Scary, ghosty foto!
How sad....I tried but couldn't see the ghost,
I hope it didn't see me!
Thanks for your visit and comment...
superb door
the king of painters live here
You've taken some great shots while I was away. I love this one.... and the back story that goes with it. Great colors. Great shadows and light. I really like this one.
I love the photograph itself. Perfect color and compostion. It makes the door come right off the screen. But the story of the haunting and the face in the glass is unbelievable. That's a fantastic tale. You DID go up closer and peek in the door, didn't you?
It's a great story, and a beautiful photograph to go with. The light and shadows are wonderful, as are the details and reflections.
I thought I had been visiting your blog long enough to have seen this...I know I would have commented had I seen them. Can you imagine the work that went into painting this door with trim?
