First Baptist Church of Ocala

One of the oldest churches in town, the First Baptist Church complex, consisting of several buildings and a ball field on 15-20 acres, is doubtless the largest of the 200 plus Baptist churches we have in Ocala.

Holy Cow, Jacob! What heavenly photos! The baptists seem to be quite dense in Ocala! Can you show us a photo of "Third Baptist Church" of Ocala?

I love the perspective of your top photo. Somehow it makes the church look so welcoming, just like churches should be.

Holy Cow! Oops, is that okay to say? That place is huuuuge! And the meticulously trimmed lawn. These are really nice shots.

Wow, beautiful big skies. The church looks enormous too. Beautiful white steeple and columns against the red brick.

Stunning! Loved these photographs! The structures look very nicely built and you've captured these pictures beautifully. Specially the first two where the sky fulll of clouds look really awesome!

Impressive church, I like your way of photographing it. What about the boats?

The building itself is elegant and so are your photos. The first two ones could have been used for Sky Watch Friday.

That is one big and beautiful church. I love the differences and the sameness in churches. MB

That is certainly a large and beautiful church! I wish they had such good church architects here in Italy today!

Beautiful building. Traditional but also modern. So, do they have a canoe ministry or what? ha

I was already wowed by the church in your first photo, but a complex and a ball field too? Double wow!

That first photo is just awesome!

I think this place qualifies for mega-church status. A friend of mine used to attend one of our local "megas". He sang in the choir and played different instruments during the service. One day the minister walked into the bank he worked at and my friend said hello nice to see you! The minister didn't even recognize him or know his name! He quit shortly after that and found a smaller congregation.

It's huge! Your pictures of it are outstanding.

It's massive! The front entrance with the columns looks almost just like the 1st Baptist Church in downtown Tallahassee.

Halcyon - You've mentioned a very large problem with mega-churches.

Of course, lot's of people like the anonymity...that's why the go to them...

Lowell said...

VP - They've got canoes, trailers, buses of all kinds, and I don't know what else...amazing!

Would not be the same with a plain blue sky..
The skies on all pictures add a lot .

Lovely pictures of a gorgeous building, great sky and reflections of sky in bus windows etc. Thanks again for your help.

You really have 200 Baptist churches in Ocala? You must live in the holiest city in Florida. At one time you said there were a lot of home foreclosures in your area. Are there any church foreclosures? I think the sky is amazing.

Lowell said...

@ Antjas - Lots of pious does not lead to a lot of piety.

We have some potholes in need of fixing. Holiness seems to have escaped us.

No church foreclosures that I know of.

Those are grand photos of the church. I bet they would love copies.

Beautiful photos, I especially like the top photo of the church with the clouds all around....gives me a real feel of God's presence.
