When we moved to Ocala from Fort Lauderdale almost five years ago, we were delighted to find ourselves in a slower-paced environment, essentially living in a forest, and close to small horse farms. This farm is about three quarters of a mile to the east of our home. The photo was taken in the spring when our water oaks tend to lose their leaves.

Cute animal, if you look closely and carefully, this picture gives an impression that the horse is trying a on a that imaginery straight line of the fence.......:-) well atleast I interpret it like that... what say?
We have lots of horses in Greensboro/Guilford County. They do look so peaceful and evoke a sense of a slower pace! Great photo, as always.

Do you know what I like about this photo and I don't know if you intended it to be this way or not, but the horse looks like he is very tiny and he is balancing on the fence! Love the optical illusion of it! - Oh, it is lined up perfectly; you must have meant to do it!

That is a beautiful scene Jacob! My water oak does that too.
I also feel the same way about my move to Jackson. Life here is definitely less complicated than in Paris or Berlin. Although I'll be happy when we go back to Europe in two years, Jackson has been a nice break.
@ Nikki - No, I did not mean to do that, and isn't it fascinating how sometimes you just don't see things until they're pointed out. I never noticed that optical illusion!

I think it's strange about the leaves, too. Actually, the damn things lose their leaves in the fall, also.
And all those leaves go in the pool! And in the driveway! And on the roof and in the gutters! Leaves are everywhere. Along with acorns, which the squirrels gather and bury in holes they dig in the grass.
But the leaves in the pool is the worst.
And did you know that palm trees are very messy? They drop little black berries that scrunch on the concrete around the pool and make terrible stains...
Aargh.

No, Ceil, I love trees! That's the problem. They make a mess, but I don't want to cut them down...and they look great and provide lots of shade...'tis a conundrum for sure!

I'm glad you like trees! Have you ever heard of the French cartoon character Astérix? He's got a little dog called Idéfix (at least in French!) and Idéfix wails every time it sees a tree being felled. That's just how I feel. Except I try to avoid wailing in public.
Hi, again, Ceil - One big problem we have here are the water oaks which grow very high...the get water-logged and we've seen a number of them topple recently, just with high winds. If a hurricane hits, it can be a nightmare! They tend to take out houses, cars and sometimes people. Our house is surrounded by them; a few at 150 feet or more!
They're beautiful and scary at the same time.

Wow. This one has such a cool feel to it. It almost looks like it was processed by one of the funky plugins I got for lightroom.
For some reason it makes me think of the Legend of Sleepy Hallow. In a fun yet "creepy tree's" kinda way. That is the second time this month a picture did that to me. I need to watch the dang movie !!!!
The horse is beautiful. It must be really nice to be surrounded by places like this.
