Is this one of those famous Southern swamp tours? Gators and garfish to be seen? I'm never tired of such excursions. Thanks for reminding me.

Is that you driving the boat? If so, who took the photo, Lois Ann?

Seriously, nice, relaxed photo.

I'd really like a cruise like this, but after all these posts about gators I will not go unarmed!

Like a movie.

Everyone seems so relaxed! Nice photo! What are the people up to? Is it just an exploration or they are travelling from one place to another?

That's nice. I bet Silver Springs Park is perfect for an exotic excursion.

Looks as if you've got a bit of autumn color there, too. This image is so rich with sensory clues. It's easy to imagine being there. Thank you.

In this type of boat we can also see the bottom of the water through a pane of glass on the floor of the boat?
Beautiful shot! :)

I am ready for a cruise--big or small. are there gators out there? MB

Very charming boat! I think I rode a similar one in Tokyo's Disney Sea. ;)

Looks like a leisurely cruise. If it's educational too, I'm definitely in!

Lowell said...

@ Leia - Yup!

Lowell said...

@ Small City Scenes: re alligators - you betcha!

Lowell said...

@ Kcalpesh - This is one of three river cruises in the park. On this one, you will often see monkeys, alligators, all kinds of birds, turtles, etc. Also, there are replicas of an Indian village and a White settlement from the 1800s along with a replica of Fort King.

There are also replicas of boats that plied the river in the 1800s.

It takes about 25 minutes...is very pleasant and gives you the feeling of being lost in time.

Daryl said...

It apparently is no longer lost ..

jusdealem said...

Only 25 minutes? I would have to do it twice! Looks very relaxing.

That takes me back in time! I'm surprised there aren't more people on the boat. It seems that there are crowds everywhere these days.

Prospero said...

I wonder if this photo was in the US.

Lowell said...

@ Prospero - Silver Spring Park is less than three miles from our house...

Lowell said...

@ Jarat - Years ago, the park was jammed most of the time. But Disney gets most visitors these days. Recently, a new group bought the park and closed it down for several days a week. There are still quite a few people on the weekends, though.

Lowell said...

@ Memphis Mojo - There are at least two boats that take this cruise...we were waiting on the dock. The captain of this boat, like most of the captains at Silver Springs, has been working there for many years!

Ilse said...

So tropical. And all that here in the good ol' U.S. of A.

cieldequimper said...

Alligators don't jump, right?

Lowell said...

@ Ciel - regarding alligators jumping...well...actually they lunge. And they can ran very fast. I haven't seem many in the water there; most are sunning themselves on the banks.

Now this pic reminds me of when my grandparents took me to Cypress Gardens in 1982 in Florida & we took a ride in a glass bottom boat... I was 12 & it was very exciting - SO COOL!

Ah, wish I were there! It looks SO relaxing!

This looks like a ton of fun. No mosquitoes in Florida, right?

Gunn said...

What a nice place to be!:-)

Lowell said...

@ EG - You know, we have lots of mosquitos in Florida although where we live they spray diligently, so aren't bothered much.

And I have never been bitten by a mosquito in all the many times we've been on these river cruises.

Don't really know why.

Lowell said...

@ Tricia - My goodness, you're just a kid! :-)

The last we heard, Cypress Gardens has been sold (again) and is now closed. Very sad! Do you remember the water skiers?

It is look like you're exploring the jungle and river, see! you even have your US flag too.

Make me think of movie Anaconda played by Jenifer Lopez years ago.
